[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1685394] Re: hp media center remote not responding

2017-05-04 Thread Michael Stockenhuber
Hi,
The content of my lircd.conf:
include "lircd.conf.d/*.conf"
that explains why it works, however, I got this after the --purge and did not
modify
Happy for this to be a support request, not a bug.
Cheers
Michael

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1685394] Re: hp media center remote not responding

2017-05-04 Thread Michael Stockenhuber
Hi,

I have now reinstalled lirc and followed the upgrade steps to no avail. No
response from irw. However purge helped:
apt-get remove --purge lirc
Had to copy mce.conf:
cp /usr/share/lirc/configs/mce.conf /etc/lirc/lircd.conf.d
Now everything is back to normal, irw gives a response and so does kodi.
Thank you for the help, I am not sure this is a bug, I have done upgrades using
default keeping of the config files.
For me it is solved, maybe this helps someone else.
Cheers
Michael

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1685394] Re: hp media center remote not responding

2017-05-02 Thread Michael Stockenhuber
Hi
Thank you for the response.
I did all the automatic upgrades on this machine over the years. irw did not
give a response after the upgrade, but I can try this again. I removed lirc and
after remapping some of the keys ( because x does not accept codes >255) the
remote works without lirc. I will go through the upgrade steps and report again.
Cheers
Michael

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1685394] Re: hp media center remote not responding

2017-04-28 Thread Michael Stockenhuber
Thank you very much for the suggestion. Unfortunately it did not help.
If I remove lirc, some of the keys work after a replug of the receiver.
Could have to do with the drivers as well?

  xinit flooding syslog

Status in xorg package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
I am using xinit (1.3.4-3ubuntu1) to start an X11 session as follows
  (kodi is a media center):

  /usr/bin/xinit /usr/bin/dbus-launch --exit-with-session /usr/bin/kodi-
  standalone -- :1 -nolisten tcp vt8

This used to work fine with Ubuntu 16.04, but since the upgrade to
16.10 lots of log messages are sent to syslog. They are all
repetitions of the following two lines:

Oct 24 22:54:50 tiger xinit[26430]: extern "Python": function
Cryptography_rand_bytes() called, but @ffi.def_extern() was not called in the
current subinterpreter. Returning 0.

Cryptography_rand_status() called, but @ffi.def_extern() was not called in the

These messages amount to >200 GB per day, so this is eating up all the
  disk space.
