Public bug reported:
Till about a month ago there was no sound problem on my HP Probook
running Ubuntu 12.03. I think a recent upgrade has broken the sound
system. Now there is no sound at all. I have tried searching for
solutions but fixes have failed. I downloaded the latest alsa driver

Sorry but I can't find alsa-info.sh. Could you please tell me where I

Public bug reported:
When doing a copy operation from a calc spreadsheet to another
spreadsheet or to writer, calc hangs the system. Nothing works except
the mouse cursor. All displays, panels etc. freeze. Sometimes there is
screen flicker in which the screen suddenly seems to go blank and
I am attaching 4 calc files from which I tried copying data. Also a
writer document which is a report into which I was pasting the data. The
paste operation finally succeeded after several hangs. The pasted data
are on pages 13 and 14.

I have set up a small LAN in our office. The LAN uses a switch to
connect computers, some of them Ubuntu desktops/laptops, with each other
to share files and printers.
The LAN switch is connected to a broadband router which acts as a
gateway to the internet for all machines

It has happened twice. Nautilus hangs or freezes the system when a

display thumbnails. For some reason, nautilus does not seem to able to

After trying out various options I sent the machine to our maintenance
people.
It seems there was a hardware issue with the sound card. They have
rectified it and the sound is working fine.
Sorry for all the trouble. As far as I am concerned, we could treat the
bug as RESOLVED and close this

I was working on Wordpress when the screen froze. Mouse was working but

computer on the network (SSH) and reboot.
ProblemType: Bug
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.04
Package: xorg 1:7.6+12ubuntu2
I am not in a position to upgrade at present. Won't be able to for
sometime. Anyway I can apply the fix to 12.04?
Thanks in advance

I confirm this in my installation (Ubuntu 14.04) on HP Probook
6506b.with Intel Integrated Graphics system.
I save a dual monitor config with mirror set to yes. On each reboot
Gnome loses the setting. It also loses the setting sometime when I am
switching from one program to another using
The problem arises because despite telling the display setting
configurator to clone two displays (laptop lcd plus external samsung
monitor), monitors.xml contains x=0 for the primary display and x=1366
for the secondary display. So I get adjacent displays after reboot or
re-login. Setting it to
Sorry but the above did not work either because the x value for the
secondary monitor would keep getting reset to 1366. I had to insert a
line in the script which used xrandr with the --same-as option to
clone the display. This workaround has worked

I am opening a fresh bug report although I am aware that similar bugs
have been reported in the past. This bug is on Ubuntu 21.04 and the
other bug reports relate to much older versions of Ubuntu.
I have done a clean install of 21.04 and am unable to play H264 videos.
I can confirm that this happens in Ubuntu 21.04 as well. I have all
gstreamer plugins and required dependencies installed but Totem does not
play H.264 videos. They were playing fine on earlier versions of Ubuntu
(including 20.04)
