[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1439440] Re: Laptop does not go to sleep when closing lid with external monitor connected
sorry to spam here but this is working now. I don't know why sometimes it works and sometimes not. (I mean working with the systemd work-around enabled in /etc/systemd/logind.conf) Another problem when it's working is that the laptop screen brightness is reverted to maximum and that controls from keyboard or from settings do not work anymore. The only way is to use /sys/class/backlight/intel_backlight/brightness directly. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1439440 Title: Laptop does not go to sleep when closing lid with external monitor connected Status in xorg package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: Using Dell Inspiron 15 3521 with Intel HD 4000 and an external monitor on HDMI output, in 15.04 beta 2: when closing the lid of the laptop, the laptop does not go to sleep (suspend to ram) as expected, but instead stays on, with the external monitor still on. So this seems to be a new feature of systemd (introduced in systemd 211): when docked, it does not suspend when closing the lid Changing HandleLidSwitchDocked to suspend in /etc/systemd/logind.conf fixed the problem; that is I get the expected behavior that when closing the lid the laptop goes to sleep even with a connected external monitor BUT ONLY ON ARCHLINUX This work-around does not work in ubuntu !!! [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1400337] [NEW] .conf file in /etc/modprobe.d not working ?
Public bug reported: hello, I have an inspiron 15 (3521) with an HD intel audio. I think it's defective because I hear that buzz sound all the time in my left headphone. I have experience this in windows too. That's why I think it's hardware. So to the point, I want the audio chipset to automatically power off when there is no sound. So i created a file snd-hda-intel.conf in /etc/modprobe.d and pasted into it options snd-hda-intel power_save=5 (I have tried too with options snd_hda_intel power_save=5) And when I boot, I got the buzz sound starting but it stops right after 5 seconds while the kernel parameter ask for it. But as soon the drum roll of ubuntu is heard the buzz continue to go on and the audio chipset is never turned off. I can see after I log in that cat /sys/module/snd_hda_intel/parameters/power_save 0 gives 0, the default, instead of 5 I have made another file for the i915 module, and it's the same. after boot I can check in /sys/modules/i915/parameters that the parameter I have set in the .conf are not set in fact. Description:Ubuntu 14.10 Release:14.10 ** Affects: ubuntu-drivers-common (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to ubuntu-drivers-common in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1400337 Title: .conf file in /etc/modprobe.d not working ? Status in ubuntu-drivers-common package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: hello, I have an inspiron 15 (3521) with an HD intel audio. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1369113] Re: Steam game began crashing 2014-09-12 (cross-post Source bugtracker)
only the spamming issue I guess. However I have tried the oibaf ppa that provides a complete more on the edge graphic stack. It worked, at least a little better as I was able to play at least 2 hours without a freeze see https://launchpad.net/~oibaf/+archive/ubuntu/graphics-drivers you can easily revert to default graphic driver if needed as explained -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1369113 Title: Steam game began crashing 2014-09-12 (cross-post Source bugtracker) Status in “steam” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in “xorg” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: I am cross-posting this issue, which I reported to Valve's Source GIT issue tracker, because it was suggested that the regression may be due to Ubuntu Xorg changes rather than changes on the Steam end. Link: https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Source-1-Games/issues/1822 Symptom -- DoD:Source loads normally. But after a few minutes of playing (not a specific time as far as I can tell), the game freezes in place. A short clip (maybe a quarter of a second) of the last audio that played then repeats over and over on a loop. The process has to be killed manually with a QUIT or HUP signal for good measure. This is a new issue that just arose today. I have included system info, kernel log, and output when game is run from terminal and crashes.
