[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1859555] Re: Calculator does not work in GNOME activities search

2020-01-17 Thread Alexandre Forte
The results are sometimes displayed in an odd way for random
calculations, but I don't know if there's a pattern. Have a look at the
attachment.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1839687] [NEW] GDM displays black screen for a few seconds after resuming from suspend while using Nvidia proprietary drivers

2019-08-09 Thread Alexandre Forte
Public bug reported:

What I expected to happen: GDM quickly appears after resuming
What happened instead: A black screen appears and GDM is slow to show up

After I suspend my laptop with Ubuntu 18.04.3 by closing it, GDM
3.28.3-0ubuntu18.04.4 takes several seconds to show up when I resume the
computer. When the screen is black, only the cursor is visible. I'm

Bug description:
  [Impact]

No window spread animation in gnome-shell 3.28.3+git20190124.

  [Test case]

  1. Open two or more windows/apps.
  2. Tap the Super (Windows) key.

  Expected: Windows slide apart smoothly.
  Observed: Windows separate suddenly.

  [Regression Potential]

Low. The proposed fix is a commit picked from gnome-shell 3.30.0 and
has been used without issue in Gnome 3.30 and 3.32 for many months
  already.

  [Original Description]

On Ubuntu 18.04.2, Xorg, Gnome version
3.28.3+git20190124-0ubuntu18.04.1, there's no animation anymore when
you open the activities panel. When you close it, the animation shows
up normally. The animation used to work, but it stopped by the end of
April 2019. It doesn't seem to be a video driver issue, since it
happens both when using Nvidia and Intel graphics. The issue persists
  after disabling all Gnome extensions.

It's worth mentioning that the animation shows up if you access
activities through the top right hot corner, but it doesn't if you
press the button or the Windows key.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1827644] Re: UPower and battery indicator show wrong information on fully charged ASUS Vivobook X510UR laptop

2019-05-07 Thread Alexandre Forte
I think it's a bug, because all laptops I've ever seen show "fully
charged" instead of "not charging" when they hit 100% of the battery.
And there's some other strange behavior, like the Gnome indicator
eventually being stuck at "Estimating" and, sometimes, if you disconnect
the power plug while at 100% and connect it again after that, Upower
shows "discharging", as if it didn't recognize the power supply again,
which is only fixed by a reboot.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1827284] Re: No animation when GNOME Activities overview is opened

2019-05-01 Thread Alexandre Forte
** Description changed:

On Ubuntu 18.04.2, Xorg, Gnome version
3.28.3+git20190124-0ubuntu18.04.1, there's no animation anymore when you
open the activities panel. When you close it, the animation shows up
normally. The animation used to work, but it stopped by the end of April
2019. It doesn't seem to be a video driver issue, since it happens both
when using Nvidia and Intel graphics. The issue persists after disabling
  all Gnome extensions.
+
+ It's worth mentioning that the animation shows up if you access
+ activities through the top right hot corner, but it doesn't if you press
+ the button or the Windows key.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1745032] Re: AC adapter status not detected on Asus ZenBook UX410UAK

AC adapter status not detected on Asus ZenBook UX410UAK

Status in gnome-control-center package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed
Status in gnome-shell package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed
Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  In Progress
Status in upower package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  === SRU Justification ===
  [Impact]
Some Asus laptops report "discharging" when the battery is full and AC
  is plugged

  [Test]
Charge battery to full, the issue appears.
Users report with the patch the behaviour is correct.

  [Fix]
The discharge rate is 0 on those machines. Use that to detect the wrong
  status report.

  [Regression Potential]
Low. The quirk uses strict DMI to match affected systems.

  === Original Bug Report ===
The AC adapter status is incorrectly reported when the battery is fully
charged. It always shows as if the adapter is not plugged in. If the battery is
drained for a while, the adapter status is shown correctly (both connects and
disconnects are shown).
