[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1075923] Re: nautilus hangs copying large directories from a samba share
I think bug 1363217 might be related. I'm seeing this on 14.04 too ** Changed in: gvfs (Ubuntu Precise) Status: Invalid = Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gvfs in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1075923 Title: nautilus hangs copying large directories from a samba share Status in GVFS: Fix Released Status in gvfs package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in gvfs source package in Precise: Confirmed Status in gvfs source package in Raring: Fix Released Bug description: Impact: copies from/to samba share often end up hanging Test case: - visit a smb location in nautilus - copies data from/to it (some non trivial directories makes the issues easier to trigger) - the copy should complete without hanging Regression potentiel: Check that nautilus is still working correctly and than you don't have issues copying data from/to remote locations --- Problem === Copying files to and from samba shares (this includes Windows shares) is unreliable in Ubuntu 12.10 and Ubuntu 13.04 when using nautilus' integrated samba client (gvfs-smb): The copy randomly hangs after a few files or a few GB. Workaround == Until gvfs-smb is fixed, use the kernel samba client (cifs) that works reliably, is faster, but needs some terminal commands to get going: # sudo -s # mkdir /mnt/cifs # mount -t cifs -o user=YOUR_SAMBA_USER -o uid=YOUR_LINUX_USER //SAMBA_SERVER/SAMBA_SHARE /mnt/cifs It will ask for you password, you can then access the shared files at /mnt/cifs. Re: [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1154431] Re: Unity doesn't start up
On 13 Mar 17, Rafal Cieślak wrote: I am affected by a bug which looks just as this one, and appeared in in apparently the same version of unity package, yet I can't tell if it's indeed the same - for I am using AMD graphics. If this is the same bug, I might provide additional information. Can you please share your output when running `unity`? In my case it complains - among many warnings and other info - that plugin 'opengl' failed to load. This seems to be a significant clue. Uninstalling the nvidia binary drivers and sticking with nouveau along with re-enabling the unity plugin from CCSM made unity reappear. Try to check if the unity plugin in enabled first. However, the nouveau driver has a whole new set of regressions. So the desktop is pretty broken on 'R' currently. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1154431 Title: Unity doesn't start up Status in “nvidia-graphics-drivers” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in “unity” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: I'm running stock 13.04. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1115177] [NEW] X fails to start
Public bug reported: Fresh install of 13.04 dev on this desktop machine with an Nvidia graphics. Nouveau only shows the system is running in low-graphics mode dialog and doesn't allow reconfiguring. Nvidia-current drivers give a desktop but X crashes very often. 12.04 worked just fine on this setup. So I consider this a regression.
