Re: [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1075923] Re: nautilus hangs copying large directories from a samba share

Regarding delete: please check this out, and the comments below: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=696190 That's probably because the backend doesn't support trashing, which is the Ctrl+Delete action (some distros might have patched that back to use Delete instead). Shift+Delete triggers the Delete action, and my guess is that will work too. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gvfs in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1157586 Title: Reduced File manager functionality when working with MTP device Status in GVFS: In Progress Status in “gvfs” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: Reroduce: (Ubuntu 13.04 B1) 1.- Connect an MTP device, I used an android device. 2.- use file manager to access the mounted device. 3.- observe that it is impossible to delete a file by pressing delete (key) , while using right-click, delete works. 4.- observe that you are unable to overwrite a file, you'll get an duplicate with wrong extension instead. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1075923] Re: nautilus hangs copying large directories from a samba share
hi all. try two things: chaneg MTU from auto to 1500 or 1000 Disable jumbo frames on your switch. Niticing that the problem happened when opening a video file, or with massive/fast file access, I changed MTU to 700, to see if it slowed things down and reduced the problem. it seems so, I was even able to scan music collection - slowly, but with no read errors. Increased MTU to 1500 - and I still do not see problems. Also: disabled jumbo frame support on my switch. I *guess* that the bug is somehow sensitive to jumbo frames. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gvfs in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1075923 Title: nautilus hangs copying large directories from a samba share Status in “gvfs” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: I have a large directory, almost 50Gb and 45.000 files shared by samba on ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS server. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1075923] Re: nautilus hangs copying large directories from a samba share
why not revert to the version that was used in 12.04 ? - at least it worked reliably ? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gvfs in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1075923 Title: nautilus hangs copying large directories from a samba share Status in “gvfs” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: I have a large directory, almost 50Gb and 45.000 files shared by samba on ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS server. I used to copy the whole directory regularly on my desktop, and execute a backup with deja dup on that. I did also often backup directly from the samba share. After upgrading my client to 12.10, copying the directory hangs randomly, sometimes after having copied just 1 Gb, others having almost completed the whole transfer. It just hangs, without any crash. I noted the also Deja -dup shows the same behaviour, now it's impossible to complete a backup from the share, it just hangs. It seems to me that a bug in the samba client might be the cause of these issues, since neither nautilus nor Deja-dup have problems with local large directories. my system: Ubuntu 12.10 AMD64 nautilus: 1:3.5.90.really.3.4.2-0ubuntu4 deja-dup: deja-dup 24.0-0ubuntu1 smbclient 2:3.6.6-3ubuntu5 samba-common: 2:3.6.6-3ubuntu5 samba-common-bin: 2:3.6.6-3ubuntu5 ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.10 Package: nautilus 1:3.5.90.really.3.4.2-0ubuntu4 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.5.0-18.29-generic 3.5.7 Uname: Linux 3.5.0-18-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.6.1-0ubuntu6 Architecture: amd64 Date: Wed Nov 7 12:05:58 2012 GsettingsChanges: b'org.gnome.nautilus.window-state' b'geometry' b'825x550+853+471' InstallationDate: Installed on 2012-10-22 (16 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 12.10 Quantal Quetzal - Release amd64 (20121017.5) MarkForUpload: True SourcePackage: nautilus UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gvfs/+bug/1075923/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages Post to : desktop-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 682850] Re: gvfsd-smb[14571]: segfault at c ip 08056b82 sp bfceb560 error 4 in gvfsd-smb[8048000+1f000]
Hi. So far, I've run only one such backup with grsync on 11.10 - without problem. - this could be random luck, or just no more bug. -the 11.10 is clean installed, with only some application settings imported (like .grsync settings) I will do more testing soon, it would be nice if the problem proved to be gone. Thank you. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gvfs in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/682850 Title: gvfsd-smb[14571]: segfault at c ip 08056b82 sp bfceb560 error 4 in gvfsd-smb[8048000+1f000] Status in “gvfs” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: Binary package hint: gvfs This happens several times while grsync'ing picture folders (many small files) after multiple crashes, (and restarting of the sync) the process finally completes successfully.
