[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1504241] Re: GUI bug: emails don't appear in local inbox thread pane, but do appear in global inbox thread pane.

2018-06-21 Thread B. Bogart
I finally solved this by deleting all the .msf files in my profile.

Deleting only those in the comment above did not solve the issue.

Title:
GUI bug: emails don't appear in local inbox thread pane, but do appear
  in global inbox thread pane.

Status in thunderbird package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
Note this is a render/GUI error; I confirm that my messages are
  present.

I have multiple email accounts and use the global inbox feature. I
recently tried to look at the inbox for a particular email address,
and found the list of message headers in the thread pane disappears,
along with the column headings. I can click in the white space and a
message is selected and I can see its contents in the message pane.

The thread pane renders properly for the other local email addresses,
and the messages from the particular email address appear properly in
  the global inbox thread pane.

The status bar shows the inbox in question has 1609 messages, and when
I filter for this email address in the global inbox, the status pane
  shows 1566 messages.

Rebuilding the index for this email address, restarting thunderbird,
changing the layout view and starting in Safe Mode and with add-ons
disabled and toolbars reset have made no difference.

I don't know what I should be looking for; I don't see anything
different about this particular email address and the others that
display headers in the thread pane properly.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1744855] Re: Upgrade to 2.84-3ubuntu3.1 breaks remote access (webui)

2018-01-23 Thread B. Bogart
Thanks for the hint. I'm not sure why my config worked before at all! I
changed:

"rpc-host-whitelist-enabled": true,

to

"rpc-host-whitelist-enabled": false,

And also:

"rpc-whitelist-enabled": false,

to

"rpc-whitelist-enabled": true,

And its working fine now... This seems to imply my whitelist was not
being used before or upgrading messed up the config file?

Marking as invalid, since it simply exposed a previous config error.

I also got these errors:

Which I resolved by setting

net.core.rmem_max = 4194304
net.core.wmem_max = 1048576

in /etc/sysctl.conf

and running

sudo sysctl -p

But I am still unable to use the webui.

2016-07-19 Thread B. Bogart
No luck for me. I'm not sure which msf file to delete though, I see
there are 238 in my inbox. I deleted the ones that look like they should
be my inbox for that offending account:

Mail/mail.ekran.org/Inbox.msf
ImapMail/mail.ekran.org/INBOX.msf

Deleting both of these has made no difference.

Should I delete

Mail/smart mailboxes/Inbox.msf
Mail/Local Folders/Inbox.msf

?

Title:
GUI bug: emails don't appear in local inbox thread pane, but do appear
  in global inbox thread pane.

Status in thunderbird package in Ubuntu:
  New

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1504241] Re: GUI bug: emails don't appear in local inbox thread pane, but do appear in global inbox thread pane.

2015-10-08 Thread B. Bogart
See the following images that illustrate the problem:

This image shows an arbitrary message selected by clicking in the blank thread
pane to select a message:

Title:
GUI bug: emails don't appear in local inbox thread pane, but do appear
  in global inbox thread pane.

Status in thunderbird package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
Note this is a render/GUI error; I confirm that my messages are
  present.

I have multiple email accounts and use the global inbox feature. I
recently tried to look at the inbox for a particular email address,
and found the list of message headers in the thread pane disappears,
along with the column headings. I can click in the white space and a

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1458085] Re: shotwell fails to import images from folder (it seems to try and copy the files over themselves)

shotwell fails to import images from folder (it seems to try and copy
  the files over themselves)

Status in shotwell package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
I have some images from my Canon S5 IS I was unable to mount via PTP
on this up to date Trusty machine, so I used a memory card reader and
copied the files to a local directory. I'm importing with import from
folder and selecting copy rather than import in place. All the
input files are seen, but none are imported.

The error log shows entries like the following:

  couldn't copy /home/bbogart/tmp/images/IMG_0201.JPG
to /home/bbogart/tmp/images/IMG_0201.JPG
error message: Error creating directory: Permission denied

This seems to indicate that the source and destination are the same
(source) filename, and the import fails due to trying to overwrite the
  files in place.

Why would shotwell be trying to copy the files to the source location?
My photos are in ~/Photos and this is properly set in the preferences.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1423287] Re: Kernel locks up on boot sometimes after upgrade and switch from nvidia to nouveau driver

Title:
Kernel locks up on boot sometimes after upgrade and switch from nvidia
  to nouveau driver

Status in xorg package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
After upgrading my system to Trusty (from precise) I noticed high CPU
loads in Xorg and render errors (Image attached). This occurred with
all the Nvidia proprietary drivers available through Restricted
Drivers. This only happens on this machine with an old AGP GeForce
Series 6 card (6600), and not on the newer machines with series 500
and 700 nvidia pci express cards.

After switching to Nouveau everything was fine for a while, no more
CPU pegging from Xorg or render glitches. Then I bought a new monitor
to replace the old CRT. So I switched from the VGA connector to the
DVI-D connector (which I had never used before). Every once and a
while the machine will fail to boot and hangs on the console. I've
attached the console output when this happens as an image below.
Compare the image to the corresponding output when the system boots

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1458085] [NEW] shotwell fails to import images from folder (it seems to try and copy the files over themselves)

2015-05-22 Thread B. Bogart
Public bug reported:

I have some images from my Canon S5 IS I was unable to mount via PTP on
this up to date Trusty machine, so I used a memory card reader and
copied the files to a local directory. I'm importing with import from
folder and selecting copy rather than import in place. All the
input files are seen, but none are imported.

The error log shows entries like the following:

couldn't copy /home/bbogart/tmp/images/IMG_0201.JPG
to /home/bbogart/tmp/images/IMG_0201.JPG
error message: Error creating directory: Permission denied

This seems to indicate that the source and destination are the same
(source) filename, and the import fails due to trying to overwrite the
files in place.

Why would shotwell be trying to copy the files to the source location?
My photos are in ~/Photos and this is properly set in the preferences.

Christopher: The issue does seem resolved after installing the LTS
enablement stacks. I'll test for a few days and mark this bug invalid if
it does not return.

Compare the image to the corresponding output when the system boots
  normally:

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1449753] Re: Xorg soft lockup using google maps (street view) in firefox under Nouveau

2015-05-05 Thread B. Bogart
Christopher: What exactly do you mean by Would you need a backport to a
release prior to Vivid.

I plan to stick to 14.04 LTS until its end of life, so if a backport of
xorg/nouveau is available it would help me avoid these very irritating
soft-lockups.

Please advise.

I can cause an Xorg soft lockup simply by using google street view for

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1291574] Re: nouveau DRM GPU lockup, PFIFO unhandled status 0x00800000

2015-04-30 Thread B. Bogart
This seems to be happening to me also on 14.04, GeForce 6600 AGP,
Nouveau. I'm now going to try and add nomodeset to my kernel options
and see if that helps (as suggested here:
http://askubuntu.com/questions/205021/how-to-solve-gpu-lockup-switching-
to-software-fbcon-on-new-install-of-12-10)

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1423287] Re: Kernel locks up on boot sometimes after upgrade and switch from nvidia to nouveau driver

2015-03-27 Thread B. Bogart
The lock-up only seems to happen about once a month, and I can see no
pattern to it's occurrence. I would have to switch to a test build for
at least a month to even see if it is reproducible, which is
inconvenient to say the least. Any other things I can try to debug the
issue short of running a test build for a month?

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1423287] [NEW] Kernel locks up on boot sometimes after upgrade and switch from nvidia to nouveau driver

2015-02-18 Thread B. Bogart
Public bug reported:

After upgrading my system to Trusty (from precise) I noticed high CPU
loads in Xorg and render errors (Image attached). This occurred with all
the Nvidia proprietary drivers available through Restricted Drivers.
This only happens on this machine with an old AGP GeForce Series 6 card
(6600), and not on the newer machines with series 500 and 700 nvidia pci
express cards.

After switching to Nouveau everything was fine for a while, no more CPU
pegging from Xorg or render glitches. Then I bought a new monitor to
replace the old CRT. So I switched from the VGA connector to the DVI-D
connector (which I had never used before). Every once and a while the
machine will fail to boot and hangs on the console. I've attached the
console output when this happens as an image below. Compare the image to
the corresponding output when the system boots normally:
