Title:
  indicator-network show no wi-fi ap's (amd64)

Status in network-manager package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  Enviroment:

  Distributor ID: Ubuntu
  Description: Ubuntu 16.10
  Release: 16.10
  Codename: yakkety

  HW: intel+intel graphics+ intel wireless 3160 Laptop &&
  amd+nvidia+ralink PC

1º I did an OEM installation on my laptop and a manual partitioning in PC
2º On first boot check indicator-network status

Current result: if you connected to Wi-Fi during installation, on
first boot it does not connect to it. Indicator-network shows no wi-fi
ap's but ethernet works fine when you plug the rj45

Expected result: indicator-network should remember the Wi-Fi you
connected during installation and automatically connect to it(not in
  OEM)

Title:
Keyboard layout indicator shows wrong layout

Status in gnome-settings-daemon package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
I have two keyboard layous: English (en) and Russian (ru).

The problem is that when I switch to either of those via the keyboard
shortcut (Alt+Shift in my case), the layout indicator shows the
opposite layout. That is, I'm typing English letters, but it shows
"ru"; likewise, when it shows "en" the input language is actually
  Russian.

If I switch laoyout through the indicator itself, the language is set
  correctly.

Bug description:
Making a simple file conftest.c with the following contents:

  int main() { return 0; }

And then compiling it on i386 with gcc -fPIE -pie -static conftest.c
  returns:

  *** Error in `/usr/bin/ld': corrupted double-linked list: 0x08dddb38
  ***

This breaks compilation xorg-server on i386. I believe that -static
-fPIE -pie is probably invalid, and it fails on amd64 too.

$ gcc -fPIE -pie -static conftest.c
  /usr/bin/ld: /usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-linux-gnu/4.8/crtbeginT.o: relocation
R_X86_64_32 against `__TMC_END__' can not be used when making a shared object;
recompile with -fPIC
/usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-linux-gnu/4.8/crtbeginT.o: error adding symbols: Bad value
collect2: error: ld returned 1 exit status

But autoconf hangs on the corrupted double-linked list, which times
  out the xorg-server build.

Bug description:
(I'm filing this as a bug in order to be able to point other people to
it, and to track its progress; if there's a blueprint containing this
  task, please let me know)

Some components (such as the Online Accounts trusted helper) need to
be able to pop-up a window (typically, a dialog) on top of the running
application. Such windows should be modal to the application, that is
the user should not be able to interact with the application while the
modal window is displayed on top of them. This also means that in the
task switcher one shouldn't see two windows, but only the topmost
modal window (and parts of the application window, in case the modal
window on top is a non-fullscreen dialog).

For developers, this API already exists in Qt: see
https://qt-project.org/doc/qt-5.1/qtgui/qwindow.html#fromWinId
It needs to be implemented in the QPA plugin, so feel free to add the
relevant projects to the bug report.

  From jdstrand
This is a hard requirement for application confinement because of our trust
model-- permission to access sensitive data by AppStore apps is typically
granted or denied at the time of access (caching the result for later use as
appropriate), so users have a context for the access being requested. We do
this instead of throwing up a permissions prompt at installation. However, for
it to work, trusted helpers like online accounts and location require this
functionality from unity-mir. A trust-store is also being implemented so other
services like calendar and contacts can do the same. Because this feature is
not implemented, the implementation for online accounts, location and the
trust-store is blocked and appstore apps are therefore able to access these
services without the user knowing.

Bug description:
When running an SDK app on the desktop, it's not possible to use the
touchscreen to move windows, use the launcher, etc. The SDK app seems
  to consume all touchscreen events.

  To reproduce:
  1) On a desktop/laptop with a touchscreen (I am using a Dell XPS13), install
14.04 and check that the touchscreen works for moving windows
  2) Install the camera-app package from universe (I have
2.9.1+14.04.20140331-0ubuntu1)
  3) Launch the camera app
  4) Touch once inside the camera-app window
  5) Use the touchscreen to drag the camera-app window

  Expected results:
You can move the camera-app window using the touchscreen

  Actual results:
You cannot move the camera-app window, or perform any other touch tasks in
unity, with the touchscreen

This only affects touchscreen input - mouse/touchpad input is not
  affected

This affects all apps written with the SDK (I tried camera-app,
  gallery-app, reminders-app). It's 100% reproducible.

Title:
Dual screen greeter can break 3D acceleration

Status in Release Notes for Ubuntu:
  Fix Released
Status in “unity-greeter” package in Ubuntu:
  Triaged

Bug description:
When booting with two screens (internal LVDS and VGA), lightdm comes
up in a mode where it displays separate screen content on both
displays (so no mirror mode). These screens seem to be arranged side-
by-side regardless of the fact that (like in my case) the combined
width can be greater than 2048 and that is not supported with 3D
acceleration at least on that older i945GME graphics.

This results in very poor graphics performance and compiz using a lot
of cpu cycles (which are rather limited on this Atom N270 anyways).
Even worse, this does not get resolved when changing the setup in
system settings to either only having one screen active or arranging
them on top of each other).

  WORKAROUND:
   * Plug in external monitor after login (1)
   * Boot with video=LVDS-1:d (2)

  (1) Booting with only the internal screen and then plugging in the
external one after login seems to handle this better (although I
probably need to remove any previous config to get into a kind of
vanilla state again). Also it seems to be ok when I had the dual
monitor boot and lightdm coming up side-by-side, when unplugging the
  external monitor before logging in.

  (2) This will completely disable the internal screen for that boot. It
cannot be enabled through the settings dialogue.

Bug description:
My screen just timed out and locked when a password prompt which had a
  grab was displaying.

I couldn't type my password or interact with the indicators.

gnome-screensaver just refuses to lock in this situation, perhaps
unity could do the same unless it's possible to remove and readd the
grabs yourself, but I don't think XLib lets you do that (you can only
  remove your own grabs AFAIK).

  TEMPORARY WORKAROUND TO LOGIN AGAIN:
  Click on the guest session
Once the guest session is started log out
This takes you back to the lightdm session screen you can then login to your
user session and it be in the same state

I don't understand what's happening with unfinished tasks in the
transition to the development of new release. And my concern about
counter There are 100 days left in the current cycle. That means that
