Change to 100% zoom 2. Go to Preferences > Icon View Captions 3. There are three captions: First, Second & Third I expect to see that the 1st caption is displayed just below the file/folder name, 2nd is below 1st and 3rd is below 2nd. so the Gnome folks said they won't fix it, because the version of Gnome I'm using (3.28.2, which was distributed with Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS when I did the installation of the OS earlier this month) is too old and no longer supported. The Gnome developers said I should persuade Canonical to distribute a more current version of Gnome. Apparently, the problem can't be re-created on Gnome 3.30.2.
