[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1394997] Re: 8086:0f31 Intel graphics corruption since upgrade to Ubuntu 14.10

2015-03-24 Thread Daniel Drake
I booted last nights Ubuntu-GNOME 15.04 cdimage, and the titlebar
problem is not present there. I haven't used it enough to see if it also
fixes the other graphical regressions.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1394997] Re: 8086:0f31 Intel graphics corruption since upgrade to Ubuntu 14.10

2015-02-24 Thread Daniel Drake
I tried the updated mesa from xorg-edgers. Unfortunately that doesn't
solve the issue and makes the other issues much worse (now almost every
app is missing some glyphs and icons, and windows have a weird glow
around them where the shadow would otherwise be).

2015-02-05 Thread Daniel Drake
That might be true, as I just downgraded to xf86-video-intel version
2.99.910-0ubuntu1.3 (i.e. the version from 14.04) and I still get the
titlebar problem. I'll look for some time to experiment with different
Mesa versions.

  3. Occasionally some glyphs from any/all apps disappear, leaving an

Managed to capture a screenshot with sleep 10 import -window root.
Here you can see where the maximized window is missing the right hand side of
the title bar, and also some weird stuff on the left.

Intel graphics corruption since upgrade to Ubuntu 14.10

Status in xorg package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
Since upgrading from Ubuntu 14.04 to Ubuntu 14.10, I have been seeing
graphics corruption under GNOME 3 several times per day, including:

  1. Maximized windows (especially gvim) have rectangular regions of
their titlebar totally invisible and transparent, so the contents of
whatever window or image is behind them shows through. Easy to
reproduce but problem disappears once a screenshot is taken :/

  2. Strange diagonal display corruption in firefox, usually random
glyphs appearing on top of the website, but sometimes it is other
illegible data similarly aligned in diagonal lines. Happens several
  times per day. Screenshot attached.

  3. Occasionally some glyphs from any/all apps disappear, leaving an
alphabet soup type effect where only a certain proportion of letters
in displayed text is visible. Hardest to reproduce, perhaps twice per
week, I'll take a screenshot next time.

I no longer have any of those in /boot, can you point me at how I can
safely install an old kernel like that?

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1394997] Re: Intel graphics corruption since upgrade to Ubuntu 14.10

2014-12-18 Thread Daniel Drake
Updated to the latest BIOS. Output of that command:

FYBYT10H.86A.0045.2014.1212.1150
12/12/2014

No change; the same problems are seen.

I'm attaching a screenshot of the 3rd issue mentioned in the original
post, which is the least frequent to occur.
