[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1991015] [NEW] Reminna has unusable framerate when clipboard sync turned on

2022-09-27 Thread Jon Brase
Public bug reported:

On an intermittent basis, Remmina will, if clipboard sync is on, drop to
an unusably low framerate after login to the remote machine. I have not
managed to fully determine the conditions under which this occurs: it
appears to happen or not happen consistently across a login session on
the local machine (conditional upon clipboard sync being on), or
possibly across a boot of the local machine. I have noticed it start
occurring or stop occurring on reboots. When it occurs, it occurs for
both remote machines I have set up (A Raspberry Pi 2 running Ubuntu Mate
18.04 and an x86 server running Debian Bullseye with LxQT). When it does
not occur, it does not occur for either machine (this seems to include
the case where clipboard sync has been turned off for one remote machine
and not the other and the connections are open simultaneously, in which
case the issue appears on neither!).

The local machine is running Kubuntu 20.04, though some Mate components
are also running on top of KDE. The connection is made via RDP, to xrdp
v 0.6.x on the Raspberry Pi and xrdp 0.9.12 on the x86 server. All
devices are in the same room, with gigabit ethernet connections. I have
verified that I am getting gigabit bandwidth with iperf3, and ping
latencies are sub-millisecond.

Remmina is version 1.4.2+dfsg-1ubuntu1

** Affects: remmina (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 965510] Re: option --new-window not working correctly

2013-03-07 Thread Jon Brase
Is there any chance of this being fixed in Precise?

Looking at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates#When , it's not
really a severe regression (2nd bullet point), but I believe it
qualifies for Obviously safe patch and Affects an application (4th
bullet point).

First, to reproduce, open Gedit (Text Editor). Right click on its icon
in the Unity Taskbar. Oddly, clicking either of the two new options
(create a new document or open a new window) opens a new window with
two tabs, labelled Untitled Document 2 and the other one Untitled
Document 3. What should happen is one new tab is opened when creating
a new document, and one new window with one tab is opened for opening
a new window. However, the aforementioned happens. I will upload a
screenshot ASAP. I am running Precise Beta with the latest updates,
and the latest version of Gedit.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 843333] [NEW] Rhythmbox delivers a misleading error message on encountering a corrupted ogg.

2011-09-06 Thread Jon Brase
Public bug reported:

In my ~/Music folder I have a corrupted copy of
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:I.S.Bach-BWV578.ogg

Naturally, Rhythmbox will often stop playing this file when in reaches
the corrupt data (though exactly where it stops and if it stops is
inconsistent). The problem is that twice it has given the following
message after choking on the file:

Search for suitable plugin?
The required software to play this file is not installed. You need to install
suitable plugins to play media files. Do you want to search for a plugin that
supports the selected file?

The search will also include software which is not officially
supported.

This occurs on Ubuntu 10.04.3 LTS with Rhythmbox 0.12.8-0ubuntu7

Expected results: Upon encountering corrupt data, Rhythmbox should
display an appropriate error message indicating that the file type is
supported by the installed plugins but the file seems to be corrupt and
needs to be redownloaded.

Actual results: Either no error message is displayed and playback stops
(acceptable but suboptimal, and happens most of the time), or playback
stops and a misleading error message is displayed indicating that a new
plugin is required to read the file (this has happened twice), despite
the fact that the file has already been read successfully up to the
point where it is corrupted (which presumably involves determining that
the file type is supported by the current plugins).

** Affects: rhythmbox (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New
