my printer back to work with 20.04. Not a real solution, but for me a
practical workaround.

I managed to get my printer back to work in 20.04 by installing hplip
from ubuntu repo (3.20.3+dfsg0-2), and then following this hint to
install the hp-plugin:

I had to type "cont" and press return after the depicted command to
start the process.
