[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1732891] [NEW] existing mobile broadband connections not correctly captured by network settings

2017-11-17 Thread Kristin Chuang
Public bug reported:

[Steps]
1. Go to System settings > Network > Mobile Broadband
2. Check the options available in "Network" pull-down menu
3. Click on the pull-down menu and click on the "Add new connection" that shows
up
4. Create a new mobile broadband connection
5. Check what options are available in "Network" pull-down menu now
6. Exit System settings
7. Repeat step 1~5

[Expected]
* Existing mobile broadband connections should be listed in the "Network"
pull-down menu in step 2.

[Actual]
[x] "Network" pull-down menu in step 2 shows a blank menu as default. Clicking
on the menu activates the "Add new connection" wizard, which guides you through
creation of a new connection.

[o] Once this new connection is created (step 5), the contents of the
menu return to its expected state: this new connection, along with all
existing connections will show up in the pull-down menu, and a "add new
connection" option at the bottom of the list.

[x] However, once the user exits the system setup and returns (2nd+
attempt of step 2), the pull-down list becomes blank again.

[System]
Xenial, kernel 4.4.0-98-generic
unity-settings-daemon 15.04.1+16.04.20160209-0ubuntu1

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1511301] Re: Failed to upgrade fglrx from 14.502 to 15.200 on Trusty.

2017-03-06 Thread Kristin Chuang
Note that software update results in comment #46 & #47 are done via the
command line (in other words, they are the result of the suggestion in
comment #45.)

When a user simply updates via GUI software updater, he/she will still
meet the hang issue mentioned in comment #44.

  [Impact]

  Upgrading from the upstream fglrx driver packages to the packages in
  the Ubuntu repository fails because the /etc/ati directory is a real
  directory instead of being a link (which was common in the Ubuntu
  packages).

  [Test Case]
  1. Install the fglrx driver (14.502) in Ubuntu 14.04 generating deb packages
from the AMD installer
  2. Upgrade the package to the current ubuntu release.
  3. Check the apt-get output

  Expected results: the fglrx module should be updated correctly.

  Actual results:
  The update fails as described below.

  [Regression Potential]
  Low. The change only affects a migration from a specific release.

  Note that the fglrx 14.502 package name is
fglrx_14.502-0ubuntu1_amd64_UB_14.01.deb, which is from AMD's site, not from
Ubuntu repository.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1571574] Re: [SRU] 3G (WWAN) icon missing

2016-06-13 Thread Kristin Chuang
Packages for network-manager-applet 1.2.0-0ubuntu0.16.04.3 solved the
icon issue.

Verification steps:
--
1. Go to "Software & Updates" > "Developer Options" tab > tick "Pre-released
updates (xenial-proposed)" > save changes

2. Perform the following commands:
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install gir1.2-nma-1.0 gir1.2-nmgtk-1.0 libnm-gtk-common
libnm-gtk0 libnma-common libnma0 network-manager-gnome
$ sudo reboot

3. Make sure no network connection (wifi, ethernet, wwan) is connected.

4. Connect to a mobile network => mobile icon is shown [OK]

5. Connect/disconnect antennas to the system => icon changes in
accordance to signal strength. [OK]

  By using a 3G WWAN dongle, after establishing a 3G connection, the

  is connected. However, in Xenial there is no 3G icon at all. After 3G

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1571574] Re: [SRU] 3G (WWAN) icon missing

2016-06-01 Thread Kristin Chuang
The Yakkety network-manager-applet (1.2.0-0ubuntu3) packages from
comment #37 returned positive results on Xenial.

Details below:

(1) Downloaded packages from https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source
/network-manager-applet/1.2.0-0ubuntu3/+build/9813691 and install them
to a Xenial system.

(2) Disconnect all network connections

(3) Connect to a 3G network
=> A mobile-specific icon correctly displayed in network-applet. [OK]

(4) Connect/disconnect antennas to the system to change 3G signal strength
=> the mobile-specific icon changes accordingly. [OK]

Hi,

I have installed the following 2 packages on my Xenial:

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1571574] Re: [SRU] 3G (WWAN) icon missing

2016-05-25 Thread Kristin Chuang
Hi Martin,

I'm afraid that just like Scott's, my verification failed as well.

After upgrading to network-manager-applet version
1.2.0-0ubuntu0.16.04.2, it now shows the fan-like "wifi icon" when WWAN
connection is established.

The expected icon should be a mobilebroadband-specific icon (the icon
displayed in the WWAN "connection established" bubble that pops up when
3G/WWAN connection is established.)

Here are my verification steps:
--
1. Go to "Software & Updates" > "Developer Options" tab > tick "Pre-released
updates (xenial-proposed)" > save changes

2. Perform the following commands:
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install gir1.2-nma-1.0 gir1.2-nmgtk-1.0 libnm-gtk-common
libnm-gtk0 libnma-common libnma0 network-manager-gnome
$ sudo reboot

3. Make sure no network connection (wifi, ethernet, wwan) is connected.

4. Connect to a mobile network and check the icon displayed in network-applet

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1549163] Re: Bluetooth headset HSP/HFP mode not working in Xenial

2016-03-19 Thread Kristin Chuang
Hi David, confirmed that both A2DP & HSP/HFP are working correctly with
the latest bluez 5.37-0ubuntu5.

I've tested with a Xenial based OEM image which was built on Mar-14 and
includes all latest upstream Xenial packages on that date.
In this OEM image, bluez version is 5.37-0ubuntu5 and no BT workaround/fixes
were implemented.
HSP/HFP mode is available and working correctly.
