PPA linked in #18, memory usage is only 300mb. More torrents than when my
initial comment (#14) was posted, so I'd say it's fixed.

I caught transmission-daemon using 12Gb (!) of RAM on my AMD64 system
recently, and for what it's worth, the Transmission 4.0.2 packages from
UbuntuHandbook PPA fix this issue. I'd noticed 3.0.0 using insane
amounts of RAM many times before (workaround was to restart the daemon),
but seeing it use
This situation affected me too (Ubuntu 22.04). I couldn't open any files
from the GNOME Activities overview, and trying to open file paths from
the Audacious playlist wouldn't work either. With wslu installed, the
terminal output from Audacious read:

Actually I'm experiencing it on Ubuntu 18.04 using Unity 7. Running
unity-settings-daemon manually produces the following message:

FWIW, this bug is present in Ubuntu 15.04 beta 2.
Ctrl-S select pattern works in icon view (will select multiple files),
but not in list view (will only select one file).
If it helps, this also affects a selection once it is pasted/copied to a
destination, same pattern as selection. i.e. pasting
For the record Chris, the scrolling issue with GTK3 apps (only tested
gEdit) is still present under KDE/KWin (makes sense since you fixed this
from within Compiz, so I guess more a workaround?). Perhaps it would be
nice to give the KWin guys a heads up on how you fixed this with Compiz

Hi Chris, I added your PPA to my 14.04 test installation, upgraded just
the packages you built (there's a bunch of other updates since I last
updated this installation), and I now have silky smooth window movement
without having to change anything :)

Yep Chris, it's specific to nvidia binary driver users. I've not had the
problem when using nouveau, nor on other computers using the open source
radeon drivers (or fglrx for that matter).

After opening CCSM and setting Composite - Refresh Rate (which is usually
blank) to 60, the desktop becomes super smooth, but also this happens:

A bit more testing (all on Ubuntu 14.04 as of 2014-04-01).
XFCE4 (apt-get install xubuntu-desktop): Windows get focused on scroll
events, so this bug could not be tested there. Couldn't easily find a
setting to turn that off (I assume it's buried somewhere though).

Thanks for responding Sebastien. This bug isn't about switching
workspaces with scroll events, it's about being able to scroll windows
with a mouse that aren't in focus. Basically, it works with a touchpad
(all windows are able to scroll without focus), but not with a mouse
scrollwheel.

Just did some testing (with two gEdit windows) this morning, Ubuntu
14.04 updated to the latest packages as of today (2014-04-01). I apt-get

default these days? Mind you, the default stuttery performance with the
nvidia binary driver on 14.04 could hardly be called 50Hz. My Amiga 1200

@Martin: If you really want to use the mouse, what's wrong with right
click file - rename? The second it takes to activate and navigate a
context menu is the same as waiting for the delay for left-click-rename.
Don't tell me you've got a one button mouse :P

keyboard? The point being, pressing F2 to rename is no inconvenience,
because you're going to be using the keyboard anyway.

A little update... while I actually got a menu to appear, it didn't seem
to actually do anything. For example, going to Data - Sort (in Calc),
didn't open the sorting dialogue.

report.. Vinagre remembers passwords while it is still open, as soon as
it's closed, all passwords are forgotten. (mind you, I haven't tried
this with multiple hosts to see if only the last used password is
remembered..?)
