I think there might be a memory leak in Firefox 7.0.1.
Memory usage with 5 tabs opened: 697916(mem) 37376(shared mem)
I even reached 1GB of memory usage a few days ago.
Firefox 6 used to have this memory leak problem too in my machine, and I didn't 
experience an improvement after upgrading to 7.
I tried creating a new profile and deleting the current one but the problem 
persists.
