I am truly sorry to say that I have tried many of the recommended solutions for this problem but to no avail. I am running Ubuntu 16.04 on a AMD 8-core desktop machine and if I ever ever ever even try to give a command like sudo apt-get update and apt-get upgrade I inevitably find myself with an
