Same problem here. Unfortunately I cannot downgrade cups from 12.10, so this issue es critical in the sense that I have no control of the print server. If this problem is not fixed soon, I will be forced to come back to the 12.04 LTS by a fresh installation. -- You received this bug notification

Digging a little bit in the link https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/30975 it seems that the problem is just that the default IPP version has changed to 2.0 in cups 1.6. My strace confirms that, so i guess that the solution is to find a way to configure cups to use the IPP version 1.1. Unfortunately,
