[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1758651] Re: Xwayland crashed with signal 7 in mieqProcessDeviceEvent()
Video showing the problem: https://youtu.be/TYMBOmLgPHI The exact same thing happens 30% of the times I close/open the lid of my laptop. Steps: 1. I am logged in and use Firefox, Byobu and a few other desktop applications 2. Time to go back home, I close the lid of the laptop 3. At home, I reopen the lid 4. Instead of just being asked for a password, I am being asked to choose a user. I started the video after seeing this, so this step is shown at 00:00 5. I click on my user, type my password and press Enter (00:14) 6. Purple screen (00:15) 7. Desktop shown very quickly (00:24) Not all icons are shown on the right bar, maybe those that I had left open are missing? 8. Screen goes pitch black immediately, like a kind of sleeping (00:25) 9. Nothing happens. Seems like the laptop is really in a kind of sleeping state. 10. Losing patience, I press the Escape key of my keyboard (00:52) 11. I am asked for my password (00:54) 12. I type my password and hit the Enter key (01:05) 13. My desktop shows up, all of my open applications are gone. Sadness. (01:07) As others have said in the numerous duplicates, I am not using Wayland, but rather the out-of-the-box 2018.04. Interestingly, when I reopen Byobu, my Byobu sessions are still alive. Byobu is designed to survive without X. Unfortunately, my VirtualBox virtual machines and LibreOffice always get killed violently, which makes work difficult. Don't hesitate to ask me for any detail or log. I can reproduce the problem easily. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1758651 Title: Xwayland crashed with signal 7 in mieqProcessDeviceEvent() Status in xorg-server package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: https://errors.ubuntu.com/problem/9ce363e7fa4057cf260e93ab2c1dc7193cde9970 --- Waking up my laptop from suspend, the whole gnome session and Xwayland crashed. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1772362] Re: Xorg crashed with SIGBUS in ErrorFSigSafe(). Backtrace: pixman_image_composite32() from fbComposite()
Thanks Daniel for looking into this! Here is how I came into this bug: I installed 18.04 from scratch a day after it got released. Twice per day I close the lid of my laptop and open it again after. Usually it immediately asks me for the password and brings me back to what I was doing. But 30% of the time, it takes a long time (like a minute) before showing me... not a password prompt, but instead, a login screen (like if I had not yet a session) asking me to choose my user (there is only one user), then enter my password. It then starts to load... and asks me for my password AGAIN. Then it shows my desktop, but everything I was doing before is gone, no more open windows. All of my virtual machines in "Aborted" state. When I start Firefox it asks me whether I want to restore my tabs. When I open Byobu it shows my tabs as I left them (Byobu is designed to survive GUI crashes). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1772362 Title: Xorg crashed with SIGBUS in ErrorFSigSafe(). [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1771716] Re: Resuming resets my session
The crash just happened again, and here are 3 fresh new files in my /var/crash, whose date matches exactly the time of the crash: _usr_lib_xorg_Xorg.1000.crash _usr_bin_Xwayland.120.crash _usr_bin_gnome-shell.120.crash About the first one I submitted this bug and marked it as a duplicate: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/1772362 About the second one a bug already existed, confirmed with "Medium" importance: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/1731911 About the third one I was told that I have out-of-date packages, I am updating now. Please note that this is a fresh install of the recently released 18.04, and updates are set to "weekly" so it can't be crazy old either :-) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1771716 Title: Resuming resets my session Status in xorg-server package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: I installed 18.04 from scratch a day after it got released. Twice per day I close the lid of my laptop and open it again after. Usually it immediately asks me for the password and brings me back to what I was doing. But 3 times so far, it took a minute before showing me a login screen (like if I had not yet a session) asking me to choose my user (there is only one user), then enter my password. It then starts to load... and asks me for my password AGAIN. Then it shows my desktop, but everything I was doing before is gone, no more open windows. When I start Firefox it asks me whether I want to restore my tabs. When I open Byobu it shows my tabs as I left them. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1771716] [NEW] Resuming resets my session

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1208993] Re: Ubuntu slows down and hangs while copying file from/to USB
Reproduced every time on fresh install of Ubuntu 2015.10 on a Thinkpad T550 with 16GB of RAM, all settings by default except a few Unity tweaks, freshly rebooted. When transferring a 364GB file, Ubuntu becomes extremely unresponsive. Mouse very difficult to move but I managed to click Firefox icon, it opened after a few minutes. On the opposite, I was unable to open a terminal despite clicking its icon several times, not sure why. The copy happens nonetheless, at 100 MB/second, and after it succeeds Ubuntu becomes usable again. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1208993 Title: Ubuntu slows down and hangs while copying file from/to USB Status in nautilus package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Hi While copying many and large files to and from a USB drive, the system becomes incredibly slow and sometimes hangs. I watched the system monitor while it was running slowly but cpu was not above 50% at any time, the same for memory. I'm using the "WD my passport" HD with a USB3 port of my "ASUS K55VD" laptop. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1131936] Re: gnome-screenshot makes it hard to take a screenshot using the keyboard
Confirmed in Ubuntu 2015.04, really annoying. The ideal workflow would be: 1. Press `PrtSrc` 2. Type the filename 3. Press `Enter` Right you have to press `Tab` 3 times between steps 23, which is not ideal. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-screenshot in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1131936 Title: gnome-screenshot makes it hard to take a screenshot using the keyboard Status in gnome-screenshot package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: In just about any dialog box, you can press Enter to click the main button, or use Tab to set focus on a button, then press it using the space bar. In gnome-screenshot, the Take Screenshot button is highlighted as the mainone - but you cannot click it using either Enter or space bar. This makes it difficult to take a screenshot without using the mouse (e.g., because something depends on the mouse location). Apparently, there's an Alt-S shortcut for it - but it's not exactly intuitive. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1291902] [NEW] Xorg freeze
Public bug reported: Several times per day, display freezes, with only the mouse moving. Clicks and keyboard have no effect, system monitor does not move anymore. The exact same bug was already present in 2013.04 I have found a workaround: - Press CTRL-ALT-F1 - Log in - Type unity --replace (or unity --restart) - Press CTRL-ALT-F7 - You can then use the system but various elements are missing.
