same problem here, I get stuck in the dreaded lightdm greeter login loop of frustration/death. had to sudo apt-get purge nvidia* allows me to use the nouveu drivers. decreased functionality though. would love to use the nvidia again. nvidia install attempt from the additional drivers panel gives
