[Desktop-packages] [Bug 508522] Re: Add automatic switching to HSP/HFP from A2DP when a mic is needed
"Automatically switch to HSP/HFP when an application is requesting to record the microphone. When it stops, revert back to A2DP." Pulseaudio is already doing this for applications which registers to pulseaudio with "phone" media role, what VOIP applications should do. You can test it with command line application parec which put on stdout recorded microphone stream: $ parec --property=media.role=phone -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to chromium-browser in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/508522 Title: Add automatic switching to HSP/HFP from A2DP when a mic is needed Status in PulseAudio: New Status in chromium-browser package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in pulseaudio package in Ubuntu: Triaged Bug description: Binary package hint: pulseaudio I'm testing a Nokia BH-905i headset (see http://www.wissel.net/blog/d6plinks/SHWL-8AZGGF ) on Ubuntu 10.10. When attempting to do so, as was possible in Natty and earlier, and which is possible in Quantal+, the mouse pointer remains locked inside the old resolution. This prevents users of small screens such as netbooks from scaling to a greater screen resolution. [Test Case] - On a netbook with intel chipset, such as a Dell Mini 9 or 10, scale the display by using the following command: xrandr --output LVDS1 --panning 1280x750 --scale 1.25x1.25 See if the mouse moves correctly to all screen extremities, and is not confined by a transparent border at 1024x600 [Regression Potential] This is fixed with a patch backported from the xorg-server version in Quantal. In theory it should just affect screen which are scaled and panned, which is uncommon. If so, the patch can be backed out. Original Bug Description: in kubuntu (and ubuntu) 11.04 i used to enlarge my laptop screen like so xrandr --output LVDS1 --scale 1.2x1.2 this worked fine: the desktop scaled to larger size correctly . After upgrading to 11.10, in kde the desktop still resizes correctly, but the movement of the mouse is restricted to an area equal to the screen size *before* issuing the scaling command. .. Ie let's say the mode is 1366x768 and I do xrandr --output LVDS1 --scale 1.2x1.2 the screen size changes to 1640x922 but the mouse moves in an area the size of 1366x768 in the top left of the screen and then 'hits a wall' preventing it to move. I also tried ubuntu 11.10 with gnome: here the screen also resizes, but I have the same issue with the mouse, and the extended area of the desktop is black... Some time ago there was a similar issue, which was resolved later. Now it seems to be back... jos@samsungsucks:~$ lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu 11.10 Release:11.10 jos@samsungsucks:~$ xrandr --version xrandr program version 1.3.5 Server reports RandR version 1.3 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/xorg-server/+bug/883319/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages Post to : desktop-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

In any case I'm using PA in system mode because I haven't been able to use dmix for various reasons, the closest I got was after 5 or 6 hacks I got silence and surround sound was forever out of my reach. I'm sure there are other vary rare cases where System mode may be the only logical option. What I needed out of dmix was to mix sound from several users, libvirt and others. Regardless of why, you should just take it on my authority that I have good reason for configuring a system this way. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 508522] Re: Mic is not available with A2DP Bluetooth profile
Do not know if they are going to merge it. You can look in discussion that developers do not want to autoswitch to hsp profile if application does not tell that to pulseaudio (because hsp profile has low quality). So e.g. when you start parec (for recording sound from some input device) PA devs does not want to use bluetooth hsp mode because it has low recording quality and they think that user should manually allow this... As you read discussion you could know that I do not agree with their statements and I want to automatically switch to hsp mode (from a2dp) when any application ask for recording. I suspect that this is because of dropping NPAPI support in chrome 36. But ubuntu does not have pepper flash in repositories so it is not possible to use flash on 12.04 anymore. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1359615] Re: [precise] critical: flash stopped working after last update
Not only Flash, but also Java stopped working... And it *is* a bug. It worked without problem before releasing that security update... Why on the earth you push update to stable LTS relase where is expected that everything will work after update which break more Flash and Java applications? For experiments there are development versions, but not long term support versions in middle of livecycle. ** Changed in: chromium-browser (Ubuntu) Status: Invalid = New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to chromium-browser in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1359615 Title: [precise] critical: flash stopped working after last update Status in “chromium-browser” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: Ubuntu released new version of chromium-browser (36.0.1985.125-0ubuntu1.12.04.0~pkg897) for LTS 12.04 precise relase. After updating chromium-browser from previous version (34.0.1847.116-0ubuntu~1.12.04.0~pkg884) flash plugin stopped working. Flash plugin is properly installed but it chromium does not see it and show message that is not installed. Firefox has no problem and can load flash object. I suspect that this is because of dropping NPAPI support in chrome 36. But ubuntu does not have pepper flash in repositories so it is not possible to use flash on 12.04 anymore. So this is critical problem because one month ago everything worked fine and new *broken* version of chromium-browser is in precise- security/universe archive. I suggest to revert chromium back to *working* version or do something else -- because new *security* update totally broke flash support on 12.04 LTS release. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1254028] Re: [precise] network manager set incorrect /64 prefix from dhcpv6 client
Now I do not have machine for testing... But of course it is possible to test in VM too and it should be easy. Just create tun/tap interface for connection between VM and host. On host side start dnsmasq (which has support for RA DHCPv6) and configure some non /64 prefix (e.g fd00::/100) [1]. And then check if NetworkManager in VM set correct /100 route (ip -6 route) and not some /64. Thats all. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1007866] Re: System mode: SHM avaliblity.
Is that patch available somewhere? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to pulseaudio in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1007866 Title: System mode: SHM avaliblity. Status in “pulseaudio” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Hello, Let start with the most basic, I fully understand that System mode is taboo and unsupported by upstream. I understand there reasoning, well I don't get the part about You shouldn't use system mode because we refuse to offer SHM support for it. That's just the pot calling the kettle black. Attached you should find my /etc/default/pulseaudio file, it clearly is configured to forcibly enable SHM. However as the documentation suggests this feature is disabled in system mode. I know X does SHM and it nearly always runs as another user, so it should be technically possible... Politics and opinions aside. Would a patch for this be accepted into Ubuntu?
