Actually there is more, as it's shown on this other video. The same problem happens when “there is a display event”…? The only text from xorg that is displayed (if it's from xorg…) is the window's title (like "#Room - Discord" for Discord application, or "me@computer: ~/" above the terminal). What is left works : Firefox can display text, and text is displayed in settings for example. P.S: a reboot solved the problem. To open them from the desktop, I have to right click, select "open with another application", then it opens a window and I select my program. After doing it two times and execute ubuntu-bug, select "open with..." don't open anymore the window but opens directly the file with the program I've selected before (it acts like "open"). Public bug reported: I copied .txt files to my desktop folder (from NTFS external disk) and tried to open them but they were with right 777 (rwxrwxrwx) so press Enter (etc.) try to execute and not open the file with an editing program. Then I rote a bug report (#1887514), understood my problem and changed the rights of the files. But there is still a problem. When I was trying to identify the problem, I tried "open with" on the right click menu. It worked (a window is opened and ask witch program I want to use). And after reporting the "bug" (that wasn't a bug) the option "open with" didn't opened anymore the window to choose a program. It opens directly as if I've selected "open". It do the same to every new files I add to the desktop, and I already have rebooted my computer (it was some days ago). I am not sure if the package I've selected is the right one for this problem, I don't know a lot about how Ubuntu is structured (and I don't know where I can find precise information). I found a way to "solve" my problem : when I copied my .txt files from my external hard drive, the rights of files was 777 (rwxrwxrwx), and when I changed it to 664 (rw-rw-r--) it solved my problem. Now I can open files from the desktop by double click, select and Enter, or right click and "open". There is still a problem with the menu option "open with..." : it opens directly with the default program without asking witch program I want to use.
