[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1918044] Re: (Update libgweather to 3.36.2) Weather forecast and info is not available anymore
This release was made specifically to help out older LTS distributions which cannot migrate to newer libgweather. What needs to be done to get it into 20.04? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to libgweather in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1918044 Title: (Update libgweather to 3.36.2) Weather forecast and info is not available anymore Status in libgweather: Fix Released Status in gnome-weather package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in libgweather package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in gnome-weather source package in Focal: Confirmed Status in libgweather source package in Focal: Confirmed Status in gnome-weather package in Fedora: New Bug description: [Impact] The weather forecast is not available since one week now. Also, the weather info is gone from gnome-shell. The weather service provider retired their old API. https://developer.yr.no/news/important-changes-to-locationforecast-and-nowcast/ https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/libgweather/-/blob/gnome-3-36/NEWS == Version 3.36.2 == This version switches the yr.no backend to use met.no instead. Please note that this backport is only meant as a compatibility layer. Where at all possible, the newer libgweather 40 should be used as applications cannot fully comply with the met.no ToS otherwise. [Test case] - gnome-weather shows the weather forecast - gnome-shell shows the weather forecast in the calendar menu [Regression potential] - Weather forecast is totally broken now and can't be more broken. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1371853] Re: Logitech wireless mouse periodically loses correct click behaviour
There were a couple of kernel updates after the previous comment on 14.04 and then I didn't see the issue for several weeks, including initially after 14.10 upgade. Today I can frequently only get one left click before it stops working. This is the first reboot since installing 3.16.0-25.33 and did not see the behaviour on 3.16.0-24.32 before that. I don't see any xorg/unity changes in the same time. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1371853] Re: Logitech wireless mouse periodically loses correct click behaviour
Hi Christopher. The BIOS I have is already an F8 version variant and I would like to keep the variant. Further, I have not had this problem in the 6 years of owning the hardware until 14.04. So further to Darren's comment it seems very likely that this is a recent software issue. I noticed the problem as soon as I upgraded to 14.04, definitely before 19th September, but I did not upgrade on launch date. I should add that although the problem commonly happens every 10 minute or so, there is sometimes a period of hours without problems and sometimes it happens on every click. I also have an Xbox 360 wireless connector. I will try removing it to see if that is causing some sort of conflict. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1371853 Title: Logitech wireless mouse periodically loses correct click behaviour Status in “xorg” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: This problem began with the 14.04 upgrade. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1337586] Re: Mouse loses focus when multiple windows are open
Sounds similar to Bug #993655 - as I said there, try Ctrl-Alt-F1 then Ctrl-Alt-F7 to switch to a terminal and back. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1337586 Title: Mouse loses focus when multiple windows are open Status in “xorg” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: Hello, I'm using Ubuntu 14.04 LTS. I have done a little research and it appears that this could be related to my USB headset and mouse. I am using a Logitech G930 wireless USB headset and a Logitech G9x wired mouse. When I first boot into Ubuntu everything works fine, even with one window open (i.e. Firefox). I can browse the internet, open new tabs, etc., and everything functions as expected. As soon as I open another window or program (i.e. System settings, Terminal) I am unable to select any options in the focused window. If I click something on the focused window (the window in front of another window) the mouse click will actually register on the window below.. if that makes sense :/ However, I am able to select things using the keyboard. I am also unable to open any new programs on my quick launch bar, alt- tab doesn't work.. right-click on empty desktop won't open the menu, etc. The only way to fix this is to restart the X server or reboot. My headset and mouse function properly in the Windows OS. I have also tried them together using Linux Mint 17 w/ Cinnamon desktop and had the same problem. One thing I noticed with Linux Mint 17 was that everything appeared to work properly until I updated the kernel via software update and rebooted. I then started encountering the mouse/window focus issue. apt-cache policy xorg xorg: Installed: 1:7.7+1ubuntu8 Candidate: 1:7.7+1ubuntu8 Version table: *** 1:7.7+1ubuntu8 0 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ trusty/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status Please advise if you need more information. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1371853] [NEW] Logitech wireless mouse periodically loses correct click behaviour
Public bug reported: This problem began with the 14.04 upgrade. The mouse has always worked normally until then. Approximately every 10 minutes - and possibly triggered by Alt-Tab window switches/opening new windows - the mouse behaviour becomes rather strange. Primarly, left-clicks are not registered properly to the topmost window. They usually appear to go through to the window below and it's not possible to switch focus to a new window (or any other window). Mouse movement is unaffected and clicking on the original window (which has grabbed the focus) seems to work. The Unity bar pops out but is not clickable and rapidly re-hides. Sometimes individual window elements are not usable even if the main window itself is. Examples: * In Thunderbird, left-pane account/folder selection works, but does not perform the corresponding update to the message list/preview panes when the folder selection changes. * dialogues are popped up where parts of the dialogue respond to clicks but other parts do not. Commonly, the dialogue title/menu bar is not responsive (it cannot be moved/closed). Sometimes right-clicking will restore focus to the appropriate window/area. Sometimes not. Unloading and reloading usbhid and hid_logitech modules does not help. Restarting will fix the problem temporarily. I've found that switching to a console and back will fix the problem temporarily too (Ctrl-Alt-F1, Ctrl-Alt-F7). Several very similar bugs exist for wireless headsets, mice and quite often Logitech (although of course this is just a common brand) from before 14.04, but for me this was never a problem previously. They are being closed as expired even though they still exist in 14.04. Bug #993655, Bug #1006156 and Bug #1337586 are examples. It is not 100% clear to me if this is an xorg bug, but this is what was being suggested in those tickets. The combination of module reloading not working with console switching working (reinstall handlers?) does suggest X is involved. This still happens on 11.04. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gdm in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/684989 Title: Default theme doesn't return after toggling high contrast option Status in “gdm” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: Binary package hint: gdm I tried the high contrast accessibility option straight after upgrade (i.e. before restricted graphics driver installation) at gdm login screen. The theme correctly changed from dark (in particular, black bar at bottom edge) to a high contrast version (white bar). However, immediately disabling the option again did not return the original theme. A third theme, somehow in between the two, was used. Several more toggles and open/closes of the accessibility options did not help. Restarting gdm or rebooting did not help. The link below suggested reinstalling gdm, which did work. http://www.jfwhome.com/2009/11/08/restoring-karmics-gdm-login-screen- to-black-after-trying-high-contrast-option/ ProblemType: Bug Architecture: amd64 Date: Fri Dec 3 23:57:07 2010 DistroRelease: Ubuntu 9.10 NonfreeKernelModules: fglrx Package: gdm 2.28.1-0ubuntu2.2 ProcEnviron: LANGUAGE=en_GB.UTF-8 LANG=en_GB.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.31-22.69-generic SourcePackage: gdm Uname: Linux 2.6.31-22-generic x86_64 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gdm/+bug/684989/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages Post to : desktop-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
