Public bug reported:
In Libreoffice write for example all menu items in the gloal menu are
gray and unclickable. Even stuff like quit or about libreoffice.
Using the keyboard shortcuts to access the items works though and it's
possible to open sub-menus but nothing in them is clickable.

Of the 3 computers that had this problem I have tested 2 with raring and
the problem is solved for both.

This bug, if it's the same, just happened to me in Raring. I connected
an external monitor but when disconnecting it xorg just froze.

Please add the patch in an update now when it's upstream! It applies
without rejects to the xserver in precise. It would be nice to not have
to patch and compile my own xserver just to fix this bug. :)

I don't have any flickering/corruption with fglrx and VBO but the
performance is terrible with that option enabled. Disabling VBO (that
option only, not sync to vblank or anything else) makes unity/compiz a
lot smoother. So obviously the fglrx driver has some problems with VBO

I'm using the one from the repos (9.000-0ubuntu3) now. I also tried
12.11 beta from amd.com and it works too! I don't think 12.8 works on
quantal due to the newer xserver but when I used precise I got 12.8 from
amd.com.

For me it's fine if this bug is closed since my issue is solved. But I
guess other might have the same issue? There is a very similar bug
(#881526) btw and they might also be helped by a fglrx backport. But
feel free to close this one!

@Christopher
Hello. This problem is fixed in fglrx 12.8 and later so I don't think
there is a need to debug it now. Howeer, it would be great if a newer
version of fglrx could be backported to 12.04.
I'm using Ubuntu 12.10 now btw so I don't have the problem any more.

FYI it's possible to work around this problem by installing ccsm and
enabling the application switcher plugin.

My graphics card (radeon 6300) was working with the open source driver
included in onieric, but I decieded to try the proprietary driver by
enabling it in jockey. Unfortunalty it was slower and broke suspend so I
used jockey to remove it again. After that unity wouldn't work
