  seahorse: Seahorse consistently crashes after selecting to view by

Status in seahorse package in Ubuntu:

Status in seahorse package in Debian:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
  Imported from Debian bug http://bugs.debian.org/714585:

  Package: seahorse
  Version: 3.8.2-1
  Severity: normal

  Dear Maintainer,

 * What led up to the situation?
  When I open seahorse from the Gnome menu via Passwords and Keys as a regular
  user and select view by keyring, seahorse immediately exits. It will not start
  again and immediately crashes. When started from the commandline, it just
  displays the following:

  ray@woodrabbit:~$ seahorse
  ** Message: init gpgme version 1.4.1
  Segmentation fault

  I can start seahorse as root from the commandline and don't get an immediate
  crash, however when i select any different view, there is no change in the
  actual view in the GUI and the following errors are given:

  (seahorse:21216): dconf-WARNING **: failed to commit changes to dconf: The
  connection is closed

  (seahorse:21216): dconf-WARNING **: failed to commit changes to dconf: The
  connection is closed

  (seahorse:21216): dconf-WARNING **: failed to commit changes to dconf: The
  connection is closed

   Reverting to the package in stable (3.4.1-2), all functions operate properly.
  I was unable to find the debugging symbols, and can provide a backtrace if
  details can be provided how to go about obtaining one. Incidentally I was also
  receiving the
  same Glib-GIO-WARNING messages as the commenter to bug #644623 posted on 29
Jun
  2013, but I'm unable to reproduce them now.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1380194] Re: Terminal emulator open menu after i press F1 or F10 key

2014-10-13 Thread Stephen Michael Kellat
This is a request for reconsideration of default settings and not
directly a bug. Marking as Opinion as discussion can take place even
though it is not a defect in any of the three packages listed.

** Changed in: gnome-terminal (Ubuntu)
   Status: New = Opinion

** Changed in: lxterminal (Ubuntu)
   Status: New = Opinion

** Changed in: xfce4-terminal (Ubuntu)

Bug description:
  Terminal emulator open menu after i press F1 or F10 key.
  Midnight commander, htop and a lot of other linux TUI apps use Fx keys for
own functions.
  I don't know anyone who need F1 and F10 key bindings set to terminal emulator
menu...

  Solution:
  Disable these function in terminal emulator setttings. It is simple. Why it
is not in default config?

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1330037] Re: [FFe] upower 0.99.1 transition

2014-09-12 Thread Stephen Michael Kellat
As a member of Xubuntu Team, I'm objecting to this landing as a Feature
Freeze Exception as there is inadequate time to test this to ensure it
works for 14.10. This is landing awfully late and as this is only a 9
months of support release we could avoid risks rushing it out now by
having it wait for 15.04.

Final Beta Freeze is September 22nd. To test something new this late
that would be added effectively across all flavors does not seem
socially appropriate. I understand this may block GNOME 3.12 landing
but Ubuntu's archive is shared among many desktop environments. There
are always setbacks and things we do not get accomplished during semi-
annual cycles. We can best look at this again during Victorious
Velociraptor or whatever we name the next cycle.

Bug description:
  upower 0.99 needs uploading for gnome 3.12 to enter ubuntu. It drops
  the suspend/hibernate functions, as logind now does that. All major
  DEs have support for this,so nearly everything just needs a rebuild.
  This bug tracks the transition.

  A transition is required as some features were removed and the SONAME
  was changed

  All packages (and build logs) are staged in
  https://launchpad.net/~noskcaj/+archive/upower/+packages

  sugar will probably need removing. If a package only needs a rebuild,
  mark it fix commited, if something else is needed, in progress.

  cairo-dock-plug-ins: needs rebuilding
  gnome-shell - ready, just need to drop upower revert.
  gnome-control-center: WIP
  gnome-packagekit: Upower dropped from newest upstream release.
  gnome-power-manager: Fixed in newest upstream release. Merge from debian
  gnome-session: Done in ppa, needs patches from git or new upstream release
  gnome-settings-daemon: 3.12 is ready out of the box, however that also
requires gnome-desktop transition. 3.8 and also u-s-d: I have a package that is
mostly working, however had to cherry-pick quite a few patches and may just be
better to backport 3.12 power plugin. (considering g-s-d patches will be
temporary, but u-s-d not so)
  kde: works fine with systemd, suspend broken with upstart, no rebuilds needed
  cinnamon: Rebuild
  mate: all mate packages need rebuilding
  python-dbusmock: needs rebuild
  sugar: Upstream bug now filed. Unlikely to be ready in time for 14.10. We
should remove this from the archive till the next upstream release
  telepathy-mission-control-5: Debian has dropped upower support, so it's done
  wmbattery: needs rebuild
  xfce4-power-manager: Needs rebuilding
  xfce4-session: Fixed already, since we switched to logind
  xfce4-settings: Needs rebuild
  xfce4-systemload-plugin: needs rebuild

Bug description:
  I had an HTPC with Mythbuntu 12.04 installed. Upon upgrading a new
  behavior that if the TV is power cycled it no longer detects a link
  with the HTPC.

  When this happens I can find in the xorg log that there is an
  accompanying log item:

  [ 39829.509] (II) NVIDIA(0): Setting mode NULL

  After debugging with NVIDIA at
  https://devtalk.nvidia.com/default/topic/729955/linux/tv-stops-being-
  detected/ we've deteremined it's a X client that reacts to the RANDR
  events causing the mode to be set to NULL.

  Working through the list in an Xfce environment, the culprit is
  xfsettingsd. If xfsettingsd is running, it causes the TV to come up
  in a NULL mode. If it's killed, it remains in the mode it was
  previously running in.

  Until this is fixed, this behavior can be worked around with a simple shell
script:
  ==
  #!/bin/sh
  #Fix TV state when HDMI link is lost.
  #By Mario Limonciello supe...@ubuntu.com

  OUTPUT=HDMI-0
  BAD_MODE=1280x720
  GOOD_MODE=1920x1080

  for MODE in $BAD_MODE $GOOD_MODE; do
   DISPLAY=:0 xrandr --output $OUTPUT --mode $MODE
   sleep 2
  done

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1231978] Re: Thunar 1.6.3 under xubuntu 13.10 beta2 locks when browsing Trash

2013-09-29 Thread Stephen Michael Kellat
Did a clean install of the most recent daily to disk. Tested both
PCManFM Thunar. Sadly was able to reproduce. Installed and tested
Xfe which does not depend upon GVFS. Xfe does not exhibit faulty
behavior but also does not utilize GVFS.

This may need to be upgraded to CRITICAL. After the file manager fails
out, interacting with files on the desktop is impaired as code is left
around that did not cleanly expire with the previous kill.

I am now left wondering what changed between the commits Martin Pitt
made on September 24th and September 27th. We gotta get this fixed for
release.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1201215] [NEW] seahorse: Seahorse consistently crashes after selecting to view by keyring once

2013-07-14 Thread Stephen Michael Kellat
Public bug reported:

Incidentally I was also
receiving the
same Glib-GIO-WARNING messages as the commenter to bug #644623 posted on 29 Jun
2013, but I'm unable to reproduce them now.

Re: [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1055766] Re: grep -R doesn't automatically search amazon

2012-12-19 Thread Stephen Michael Kellat
Well, since this is attached to Ayatana-Design it cannot be closed with
a WONTFIX due to the way Ayatana-Design is configured on Launchpad.

Due to the way Ayatana-Design is configured, this cannot be converted to
a question where it truly belongs either.

An INCOMPLETE would let it close by itself in 60 days but nobody will be
likely to leave it in that status for 60 days let alone let is sit
quietly for 60 days.

This horse has been flogged and is now rather dead. This is a wishlist
item in the end. Since this won't die, somebody should at least look at
https://developer.amazon.com/ to see what their API at least allows to
have done with it perhaps.

Bug description:
  Dear root owning overlords,

  When using grep recursively I only get local results:

  grep -R fish_t  /home/noob/fish_game/*

  /home/noob/fish_game/fish.h: struct fish_t {
  /home/noob/fish_game/fish.c: struct fish_t eric_the_ fish;

  or worse:

  /home/noob/fish_game/fish.h: struct shark_t {
  /home/noob/fish_game/fish.c: struct shark_t_t mark_sw;

  I declare this a bug for two reasons:

  1. The output is boring.
  2. The terminal has more than 2 lines!!! It's an unefficient use of my
screenspace.

  I believe the reason for this is that the grep command only searches
  locally for things I am actually looking for, I kind of expect the
  results I get from my codebase and as such it removes any sense of
  mystery or something new and exciting to spice up my dull geek
  existence. That's boring, grep -R should also search amazon, so I get
  more exciting results such as:

Bug description:
  Dear root owning overlords,

  When using grep recursively I only get local results:

  grep -R fish_t  /home/noob/fish_game/*

  /home/noob/fish_game/fish.h: struct fish_t {
  /home/noob/fish_game/fish.c: struct fish_t eric_the_ fish;

  or worse:

  grep -R shark_t  /home/noob/fish_game/*

  /home/noob/fish_game/fish.h: struct shark_t {
  /home/noob/fish_game/fish.c: struct shark_t_t mark_sw;

  Shark Season 1 Starring Steven Eckholdt, Nora Dunn, Patrick Fabian, et al.
