[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1568056] Re: Official Package-Names Not Shown in Gnome-Software

It can be called "System package ID", not to confuse a non-technical
user.

Title:
Official Package-Names Not Shown in Gnome-Software

Status in gnome-software package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
The names of a packages (as you would type them when installing via a
command prompt) are not indicated in gnome-software.

Even when I use gnome-software to locate a package, I still want to
know the package's official Ubuntu name, because I usually want to add
that package-name to an command install list (sudo apt-get install
package1 package2 package3), so that I can install all my packages at
once the next time I do a fresh install.

That fact that gnome-software can locate packages for me is great. The
fact that it doesn't reveal the official name of the packages is
  lacking (for me).

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1754702] Re: Delay before you can type after switching input source

I have Ubuntu Gnome with English and Russian.

When I click Meta+Space quickly, the "indicator menu" does NOT appear.
But the input is blocked for an about a half of a second or a second.

you press the selected key, and an indicator menu appears on-screen to
indicate which language is selected next. The menu disapears after
2~3 seconds and during which time typing is blocked. If you type
while the language input method menu is displayed, the menu will not
disapear and stay as long as you type.

The language input menu should not block typing, and the disapearance
of the menu should not be delayed by typing.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1792316] [NEW] Hebrew keyboard does not work

2018-09-13 Thread Victor Porton
Public bug reported:

When I switch the keyboard to Hebrew, it types English. (Russian input
works, however.)

Maybe it was broken after running these Bash commands:

v="[('xkb', 'us'), ('xkb', 'ru+typewriter'), ('xkb', 'il')]"
gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.input-sources sources "$v"

Removing Hebrew layout "manually" (that is through the Gnome
configuration, not through a script) and adding it back (manually too)
does not help against the bug.

So, I can't type Hebrew anymore. Help!

ProblemType: Bug
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 18.04
Package: gnome-session (not installed)

Title:
  Hebrew keyboard does not work

Status in gnome-session package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
When I switch the keyboard to Hebrew, it types English. (Russian input
  works, however.)

Maybe it was broken after running these Bash commands:

v="[('xkb', 'us'), ('xkb', 'ru+typewriter'), ('xkb', 'il')]"
  gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.input-sources sources "$v"

Removing Hebrew layout "manually" (that is through the Gnome
configuration, not through a script) and adding it back (manually too)
does not help against the bug.

So, I can't type Hebrew anymore. Help!

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1782003] [NEW] A mouse glitch in "Auto-hide the Dock" mode

2018-07-16 Thread Victor Porton
Public bug reported:

Initially reported at https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-
shell/issues/416 and told that it is an Ubuntu feature and should be
reported at Ubuntu tracker.

I use "Auto-hide the Dock" mode.

When I put mouse at the left side of the screen, the dock unhides well.

But if I first put the mouse to the top of the screen and then keeping
it a the top move to the left (even if later I move the mouse down
holding it at the left side of the screen), then the dock does not
unhide.

This behavior is:

* inconvenient

* not intuitive

It is so much inconvenient that I call this a bug.
