[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1600577] Re: Fullscreen videos stuttering in Firefox

2016-07-10 Thread Viktor Pal
I was using the 4.6 kernel because of testing another bug and the mentioned
behavior was produced with that kernel.
I was not able to reproduce this with the 4.4 kernel until now, but I will
continue testing.

Title:
  Fullscreen videos stuttering in Firefox

Status in firefox package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
All full screen videos are heavily stuttering in Firefox.
The stuttering is very heavy, it basically stops for a few seconds then jumps
to a next frame, again stops for a few seconds then again jumps to a next frame.
There is absolutely no continuous play, it just jumps from one frame to the
other.
Sound is continuous while while this is happening.

  Videos in Chromium work fine.

  Restarting Firefox does not help.
  Restarting gnome-shell does not help.

When I restart the whole computer it is okay for a short time, but it
gets into this state very quickly.

Although this happens in Firefox I'm not sure if this is a Firefox bug
or a bug in some underlying infrastructure like xorg or video driver.

I would be happy to debug this if someone could tell me in where I
  should start.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1455916] Re: [Dell Inspiron N5110] Xorg unexpectedly crashed

2016-01-08 Thread Viktor Pal
Christopher M. Penalver, what I wanted to point out in my last comment is that
since I reported this bug I changed to gnome-shell and even updated to 15.10 so
I will not be able to help further debugging this issue and of course as this
is about metacity and I don't use it any more I have not seen this bug since
then.
Of course all new/other xorg related errors have been reported by me in
separate new bug tickets as expected.

Would you like me to change the subject of the bug to: "The program
'metacity' received an X Window System error."

Christopher M. Penalver, as I switched to gnome-shell meanwhile and I
had several Xorg crashes since then (see my bug reports) I'm not sure if
this happened to me again since then. Sorry for that.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1516699] Re: Xorg unexpectedly crahed with Segmentation fault

2015-11-27 Thread Viktor Pal
Christopher, I'm unfortunately not able to test the unstable image as this is
my work computer and I need to have a stable release running on it.
The other problem is that I can't reproduce the bug as it just happened, so
installing the daily image and running it for whatever time without this
happening would also not mean that this bug does not exist in that version.

Bug description:
  To reproduce:
1.) Open VLC (or SMplayer or any app in fullscreen mode).
2.) Start watching a movie and go to fullscreen mode.
3.) Alt+tab to another open application
  4.) Alt+tab back to VLC
After getting back to VLC you will see a white stripe on the top of the
screen as on the attached screenshot.

I have tried this with other applications like Firefox and the default video
player (Totem).
They produce a slightly different symptoms as they also have a white stripe
on the left of the screen besides the top, but I would bet it is the same bug.
In Totem the white stripes are also blinking a bit.

  I'm attaching 2 screenshots.
1.) After starting VLC where everything is okay.
2.) After alt+tab ing with VLC where the white stripe is already displayed.

  I'm using gnome-session-flashback (gnome-panel) with metacity.
I'm not sure which of them is responsible for this or if one of them even is
but they seem to be the best candidates.

I have also installed Xfce on the same machine and players started in
Xfce do not produce similar problems.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1455916] Re: Xorg unexpectedly crashed

2015-06-16 Thread Viktor Pal
Christopher, sorry for the very late answer.
Yes I'm using GNOME Flashback with Metacity.
I have been using this combination of desktop and WM since Ubuntu 15.04 came
out (April).
So it would be hard to say if using Compiz makes any change.
I was watching a movie in VLC then I switched VLC from full screen to windowed
mode and clicked around in Firefox I think.
And that is when the crash happened.
I have filed this bug because I thought you can get some hint from the logs
regarding some bug that is present.
If the logs are not enough I would say wait if that happens again and see how
we can go forward as I would not be happy to use Compiz (I just don't like it)
unnecessarily and it also seems that it wouldn't make any sense as the bug is
very hard to reproduce.

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-panel/+bug/1426887/+attachment/4331226/+files/after_alt_tab_ing.png

** Description changed:

- I'm not sure which of them is responsible for his or if one of them even is
but it seem they are the best candidates.

Desired=Unknown/Install/Remove/Purge/Hold

ii libgtkmm-2.4-1c2a:amd64 1:2.24.4-1ubuntu1

Title:
  Inkscape missing libgtkmm-2.4.so.1 dependency

Status in gtkmm2.4 package in Ubuntu:
  New
Status in inkscape package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
I've clean installed Oneiric Ocelot beta 1 (x64). After installing
Inkscape, it doesn't start. Running it from the terminal I get:

inkscape: error while loading shared libraries: libgtkmm-2.4.so.1:
cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

However, package libgtkmm-2.4-1c2a is pulled in. Any ideas?
