When I tried to execute your command chromium was using 100% CPU and
was unresponsive. It seems that Chromium consumes a lot of CPU too.
But even with no Application running other than Gnome-Terminal Xorg
takes up to 10% CPU when I move my mouse.
Now while I'm writing this chromium is running
I just got an update of xserver-xorg-video-intel and it seemed to solve
the issue.

I did a fresh install of 12.04 a couple of moth ago. Everything worked
fine. I did the usual update via update-manager 2 days or so ago, were
xorg packages were updated. Now when I do _anything_ xorg consumes
between 40% and 60% CPU and the whole system is very slow and
