[Desktop-packages] [Bug 562188] Re: Cannot unmount USB flash drive because volume is busy
Sebastien, I was able to reproduce this just like Andree said. After copying several large files, Nautilus keeps writing them in background and displays the reported message when the user tries to eject, long after the progress dialog has closed: $ while true; do date; df -m /media/ariel/Samsung\ USB/_fun/ | sed 1d; sleep 30; done Mon Jul 11 08:36:49 VET 2016 /dev/sde1 15280 10629 4652 70% /media/ariel/Samsung USB Mon Jul 11 08:37:19 VET 2016 /dev/sde1 15280 11215 4066 74% /media/ariel/Samsung USB Mon Jul 11 08:37:49 VET 2016 /dev/sde1 15280 11667 3614 77% /media/ariel/Samsung USB Mon Jul 11 08:38:19 VET 2016 /dev/sde1 15280 12045 3236 79% /media/ariel/Samsung USB Mon Jul 11 08:38:49 VET 2016 /dev/sde1 15280 12467 2814 82% /media/ariel/Samsung USB Mon Jul 11 08:39:19 VET 2016 /dev/sde1 15280 12884 2397 85% /media/ariel/Samsung USB Mon Jul 11 08:39:49 VET 2016 /dev/sde1 15280 13164 2117 87% /media/ariel/Samsung USB Mon Jul 11 08:40:19 VET 2016 /dev/sde1 15280 13164 2117 87% /media/ariel/Samsung USB Mon Jul 11 08:40:49 VET 2016 /dev/sde1 15280 13164 2117 87% /media/ariel/Samsung USB $ lsof +D /media/ariel/Samsung\ USB/ lsof: WARNING: can't stat() tracefs file system /sys/kernel/debug/tracing Output information may be incomplete. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 269904] Re: Screen refresh problems with nvidia cards
With Christopher's packages, I still find this happening occasionally in Firefox (flickering between the old and new content after scrolling), apparently when free memory is low. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 111939] Re: Alt-Tab - Not possible to alt-tab during a drag-and-drop operation

This is not possible with Metacity, Beryl, Compiz or Xfwm. It is unclear to me whether this is a limitation of the window manager or some other part of the system. -- Use Case: Dragging movie/audio files from nautilus to totem. Steps to Reproduce: 1. open totem media player full screen 2. open nautilus full screen 3. browse to media files 4. select some media files (e.g. a movie file) and move it to start a drag and drop operation 5. press Alt+Tab Observations: Nothing happens. Expected Results: Alt+Tab should allow the user to switch tasks and preserve the drag state, so the user can drag files from one application to another. Notes: Drag and drop works if the applications are tiled to the left/right of each other, or if they are windowed so it should work when they are full screen. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1123152] Re: Keyring password prompt after login
Dave: 1. I'm assuming you are using auto login (Ie you don't add a password to login to your system) is this correct? If number one is yes then it is an issue with the login system not unlocking the keyring on login. This happens for several apps that access the keyring. Why all keyboard input hijacked then? I even see my startup applications come up. If at any time I go to Passwords and Keys (seahorse) and lock the Login keyring, after a while the dialog will come up and programs stop responding to keyboard input. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-keyring in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1123152 Title: Keyring password prompt after login Status in “gnome-keyring” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in “ubuntuone-client” package in Ubuntu: Invalid Bug description: After logging into Ubuntu 12.04 (not auto-login), a few seconds later, and before the desktop becomes usable, the Unlock keyring prompt appears, with the explanation An application wants access to the keyring Default, but it is locked. Screenshot attached. The desktop is not usable until the password is entered, as the dialog grabs keyboard focus. Whilst you can open a terminal, for example, you cannot type into it. I managed to disable this by running Ubuntu One and unticking Connect automatically when computer starts and Allow all notifications to this device (the latter probably unnecessarily). I am unsure whether this issue is unique to Ubuntu One, a bug in Seahorse, or a failure in Unity login not unlocking the keyring; hence I am logging as Unity at this stage. There seem to be two aspects to this bug: 1. The user does not know why he is being asked for his password, but has no alternative but to provide it, which I would have thought was a security issue. 2. The user is being asked to enter their password twice, which is a UI issue. I have tested also in Ubuntu 12.10 and the problem does not appear; although the 12.10 is a fresh install.
