BTW: This bug also affects KDE systems, not just Gnome/GTK. When the
screen is locked, it always takes some seconds until I am logged in
after typing my password.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1687882] [NEW] thunderbird startup crash when xul-ext-kwallet5 is installed

2017-05-03 Thread redtux
Public bug reported:

After having installed the xul-ext-kwallet5 add-on I was not able of
using Thunderbird anymore.

The bug has already been reported on Debian: https://mail-archive.com
/debian-bugs-d...@lists.debian.org/msg1513041.html

apt policy xul-ext-kwallet5
xul-ext-kwallet5:
  Installed: 1.0-1
  Candidate: 1.0-1
  Version table:
 *** 1.0-1 500
500 http://at.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu xenial/universe amd64 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

apt policy thunderbird
thunderbird:
  Installed: 1:45.8.0+build1-0ubuntu0.16.04.1
  Candidate: 1:45.8.0+build1-0ubuntu0.16.04.1
  Version table:
 *** 1:45.8.0+build1-0ubuntu0.16.04.1 500
500 http://at.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu xenial-updates/main amd64
Packages

Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
 1:38.6.0+build1-0ubuntu1 500
500 http://at.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu xenial/main amd64 Packages

Interestingly, I could not file a bug report using apport because it
complains for xul-ext-kwallet5 not being an official KDE package.

lsb_release -a
No LSB modules are available.
Distributor ID: neon
Description:KDE neon LTS User Edition 5.8
Release:16.04
Codename:   xenial

When starting Thunderbird I get the Mozilla Crash Reporter, and the
following output is being shown on the commandline:

walletType =  "LocalWallet"
Start
walletFolder =  "Unknown"
Start
QSettings::value: Empty key passed
QSettings::value: Empty key passed

Pass a valid window to KWallet::Wallet::openWallet().

Selected wallet folder  "Unknown"

JavaScript strict warning: resource://kde5wallet/modules/KDE5WalletLibrary.jsm,
line 216: ReferenceError: assignment to undeclared variable loginInfoAsArray

BTW: Also when reporting this bug directly in launchpad for package xul-
ext-kwallet5, it says that it "does not exist in Ubuntu.", while "apt
policy" proves the opposite. :-)
