[Desktop-packages] [Bug 971051] Re: No Alt+Tab in gnome classic session (switcher plugin not loaded)

2015-09-26 Thread Norbert
Bug is fixed in 15.10 beta2 (Wily) - I tested it. Thank you!

Please fix this bug in LTS releases too - 12.04 (Precise) and 14.04 (Trusty).
Fix for 15.04 (Vivid) would be great too.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 971051] Re: No Alt+Tab in gnome classic session (switcher plugin not loaded)

2015-08-16 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package compiz -
1:0.9.12.1+15.10.20150805-0ubuntu1

---
compiz (1:0.9.12.1+15.10.20150805-0ubuntu1) wily; urgency=medium

  [ Alberts Muktupāvels ]
  * Change icon size back to 48px in application switcher plugin. (LP:
#1237057)

  [ CI Train Bot ]
  * New rebuild forced.

  [ Dmitry Shachnev ]
  * Move window switcher plugins to compiz-plugins-default. (LP:
#971051, #1465647)
  * debian/compiz-gnome.gsettings-override: Remove unityshell from
active plugins, and add switcher. (LP: #1469086)

  [ Eleni Maria Stea ]
  * It fixes the 3d windows plugin. Problem: The 3d clipping is
performed in viewing space (modelview transformation) and should be
done inside the shader when we use shaders otherwise the viewing
space pipeline operations will be ignored. Compiz used to perform
the clipping inside the td plugin using pipeline functions, then it
was loading a generic shader program (no clipping operations) to
render the windows and then it rendered the 3d quads around the
windows using the pipeline (so these were clipped correctly). (LP:
#1395697)
  * Sometimes the MultipleCubes, Automatic or OneBigCube option might be
set although we are not in multimonitor. Modified the 3d windows
plugin to check the number of monitors as well.

  [ Marco Trevisan (Treviño) ]
  * Window: add clientFrame(), to get the client-side decoration extents
(LP: #1422768, #1436553)
  * Window: compute the correct output using the absolute window
position (LP: #1475721)

  [ Martin Wimpress ]
  * align MATE profile more closely with Marco

  [ Stephen M. Webb ]
  * Fix a FTBFS when -std=c++11 is used. (LP: #1477654)
  * Fixed the Compiz manpage and --help message to agree with the actual
command-line options supported. (LP: #1475508)
  * force Compiz to build using C++-11 (required by build dependency
libgtkmm-3.0-1). (LP: #1477978)

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 971051] Re: No Alt+Tab in gnome classic session (switcher plugin not loaded)

2015-06-16 Thread dronus
The solution to this bug should be made in gnome-session package source
I guess, which builds the gnome-session-fallback package.

If it sports the compiz-dependent session, it should depend on compiz,
and on compiz-plugins which is currently missing but needed to provide
'switcher' or 'static switcher'. Also switcher must be enabled by
default in some way (gconf config files I guess).

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 971051] Re: No Alt+Tab in gnome classic session (switcher plugin not loaded)

2015-05-03 Thread Paolo Montrasio
In my case it was a fresh install. I eventually managed to workaround it
and make it work but I don't remember how. This is what I have installed
now:

$ dpkg -l *compiz* |grep ii
ii compiz 1:0.9.7.12-0ubuntu4
   OpenGL window and compositing manager
ii compiz-core1:0.9.7.12-0ubuntu4
   OpenGL window and compositing manager
ii compiz-gnome 1:0.9.7.12-0ubuntu4
OpenGL window and compositing manager - GNOME window
decorator
ii compiz-plugins 1:0.9.7.12-0ubuntu4
OpenGL window and compositing manager - plugins
ii compiz-plugins-default 1:0.9.7.12-0ubuntu4
OpenGL window and compositing manager - default plugins
ii compiz-plugins-main1:0.9.7.0~bzr19-0ubuntu10.1
   Compiz plugins - main collection
ii compiz-plugins-main-default1:0.9.7.0~bzr19-0ubuntu10.1
Compiz plugins - main default collection
ii compizconfig-backend-gconf 0.9.5.92-0ubuntu5
Compiz Fusion configuration system - gconf backend
ii compizconfig-settings-manager 0.9.5.92-0ubuntu3
   Compiz configuration settings manager
ii libcompizconfig0 0.9.7.0~bzr428-0ubuntu6
Settings library for plugins - OpenCompositing Project
ii python-compizconfig0.9.5.94-0ubuntu4
   Compizconfig bindings for python

(it's a little different from the list I gave in #41)

So it seems that I installed packages from

https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/precise/amd64/compiz-plugins-main-dev
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/precise/amd64/libcompizconfig0-dev
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/precise/amd64/compizconfig-settings-manager

Furthermore I have this plugin ~/.compiz-1/plugins/libcube.so of 163080
bytes probably because of this
http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:qA_apIZ2-iAJ:ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-1938942.html+cd=1hl=enct=clnk
(I give the google cache because the direct link doesn't work anymore
for me)

It's a strange mix but it kind of works. Known problems: sometimes
resizing a window stops with some extra space around it and rotating the
cube with a window doesn't work. The window goes back to the original
face as soon as I stop rotating it. Anyway all the alternatives are
worse for me. This UI is still the one that better suits my way of
working.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 971051] Re: No Alt+Tab in gnome classic session (switcher plugin not loaded)

2014-06-29 Thread NoOp
@Avi: open ccsm and go to the Windows|Application Switcher|General and
tick Only show icon. Still somewhat large, but at least you should be
able to use it.

2014-04-25 Thread Avi Marcus
Confirming this bug in fresh 14.04 using gnome-panel/compiz. The
shortcut was unset and when I tried resetting to alt-tab, super-alt-tab,
super J, none of them worked.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 971051] Re: No Alt+Tab in gnome classic session (switcher plugin not loaded)

2014-04-25 Thread Avi Marcus
Note: the workaround for install compiz and using ccsm works, but it
shows me huge fuzzy, overlapping icons. I can't even look at it.

I tried switching to gnome-metacity, and then the command before from dima-tr
of gconftool-2 --set /apps/metacity/global_keybindings/switch_windows --type
string AltTab worked for me instantly.
However, super-D for minimize all stopped working... I wonder what else...

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 971051] Re: No Alt+Tab in gnome classic session (switcher plugin not loaded)

2014-03-03 Thread Paolo Montrasio
Same problem for me on a fresh 12.04.4 install (zbook 15, i7, nvidia quadro
1100, nvidia driver).
No workaround works. The alternate switcher just don't work.
I had to switch to KDE, which has it's own share of problems but at least
alt-tab works. I'd like to get back to gnome classic (sometimes gnome shell
freezes).
