Thank you for the reply, Thomas. I'm attaching two test scripts. (None of them is perfect as I am not very good at Gimp scripts.) I made the tests with Gimp 2.8. First one (message-TEST-registered.scm) registers the script with script-fu so that it can be run from the Filters menu as Message
