Thank you for your bug report, it's likely that you have an old version
of the extension in your user profile which is masking the system
version from quantal and creating the issue, could you check if that's
the case?

x64 beta 2 installed with the latest updates from all available official
sources.
I have this problem on my 2 PC ant 1 laptop.

I have found a solution. I have deleted a folder
/home/myname/.config/indicators/ and now it is working fine. But I think
that it is still a bug. Because, it can be a problem when upgrading from
12.04.1 to 12.10. In my case I have installed 12.10 without any changes
in my /home/ folder, because it
Hm...it working...but only for one mailbox. I have 5 of them in my
Thunderbird.
So the bug is still realy actual.

I have delete all hidden folders with settings from my home folder except some
software settings (for ex. .mozilla, .thunderbird, .osmo). And then I
reinstalled the system from daily built.
The problem is still there... I still don't get notifications about new mail.
