[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1071001] Re: Sound Card not detected NM10/ICH7 Intel HDA Internal

2012-12-02 Thread Stéphane Billiart
Same problem here on the same Dell hardware
boot.log shows
udevd[402]: '/sbin/modprobe -bv
pci:v8086d277Csv1028sd01DEbc06sc00i00' [411] terminated by
signal 11 (Segmentation fault)
I can see the call trace in dmesg similar to the one posted by Raymond

This results in syslog being flooded with messages (every second)
Dec 2 07:53:19 kaitain udevd[401]: timeout: killing '/sbin/modprobe -bv
pci:v8086d27B8svsdbc06sc01i00' [446]
Dec 2 07:53:19 kaitain udevd[400]: timeout: killing '/sbin/modprobe -bv
pci:v8086d27D8sv1028sd01DEbc04sc03i00' [405]

If I boot from the 3.2.0 kernel I kept from 12.04, everything works fine

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1071001] Re: Sound Card not detected NM10/ICH7 Intel HDA Internal

2012-11-02 Thread Andy Partington
OK, I have some sound now, but my Output field in Sound settings is
empty.

I got sound working by black listing edac found from here.

https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=1158033#p1158033
http://www.kernel.org/doc/Documentation/edac.txt

Not sure how to proceed.
