This bug appears with several variations on a theme on several sites.
The most common workaround of adding nouveau.nofbaccel=1 to
/etc/default/grub as a kernel command line didn't work for me.

nouveau.noaccel=1
Has resulted in a stable PC for the last 24 hours which is a 3 year

I'm not sure about latest-bios-0709. I assume it helps with tracking.

I am also getting this error after suspend/resume, always reproducible
after a suspend/resume cycle and then trying to play a video with VLC. I
could also get it to be reproduced by running Steam. Here is my graphics
