I have the very same issue but I don't think it's gnome-terminal related. Please confirm restarting gnome itself doesn't help (as in: alt+F2, type in letter "r" and press enter, you have to alt+tab twice afterwards to regain focus on terminal), we will be sure then it really is a gnome-terminal

This started happening for me with Ubuntu 14.04, to the extent that I didn't realize before seeing this bug (and learning that switching tabs in the terminal could fix it) that IME worked at *all* in gnome-terminal anymore. I didn't have problems in Ubuntu 12.04. -- You received this bug
