Public bug reported: The feature to record the currently played audio stream - known to me as the stereo mixer - disappeared from the drop down menu for recoding devices in, for example, audacity. As far as I understood, this is due to a failure of the underlying audio layer.
This problem appeared in 12.10 already (after some dist-upgrade in march) and continous to not be available in 13.04 now.
