Public bug reported: After installation of the daily build, the login screen is unresponsive to mouse or keyboard and the background is scrambled. See the attached screen shot.

Doing 'sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get -y upgrade && sudo apt-get -y dist-upgrade && reboot' fixed the problem.
