Ubuntu GNOME 14.04 LTS is no longer supported. We are sorry that we do

Just a note: the quarter-screen video occurs only when the Gnome scaling
factor is set to 2.  Setting the scaling factor to 3 (only integer
scaling is valid) results in a one-ninth-screen video.

my screen has a resolution of 2880 x 1620.

Problem probably lies in hidpi scaling. Im using x2 dpi scaling factor.
