This bug has been around for several years. I've also tried LO 5 in Ubuntu 14.04 and it is still there. I reported this to the LibreOffice developers, but they basically shrugged it off as being an Ubuntu problem, when it clearly appears to be a LO problem. The only workaround, as other have
