Public bug reported: I observed the following on my trusty machine.
$ service saned status /etc/init.d/saned: 73: [: =: unexpected operator saned is not running, but pidfile existed. rm: remove write-protected regular file ‘/var/run/saned.pid’? n $ sudo service saned status saned is running.
