I think it would be really nice if one could get built-in DE desktop
notifications when certain events occur such as a download is finished.

There could be a section in the Preferences which would allow the user
to select which events they want to cause the desktop notification to be
shown.

Currently an add-on is required to be installed to get this
functionality, but I think it would be much better if such functionality
were built-in.
