I've tried both the snap distribution which is at 0.8.19 and the apt
distribution which is at 0.8.12 and both print the same error.
Everything still works fine so its only a cosmetic issue though.

rejiggered how `--exclude-if-present` checks files in order to avoid a
fatal error that occurred in some edge cases. That change was released
in 0.8.17.

20.04.
If I have the file tree:

- ...
- other stuff
And run
duplicity --exclude **/root --exclude-if-present .nobakup test
file:///.../backup
duplicity prints a non-fatal error:
