2017-05-11 Thread MURAT ATES
Most definitely the bug #1674838 is the main thread dealing with this
issue. I followed the suggestion and installed a maintainer's commit.
Hopefully a new kernel with full commit will be released soon (June 5 is
the date mentioned on that thread). Thanks @pmow for research!

Actually, all of those and this bug are probably duplicates of bug
1674838. That bug

points to a kernel test release that is supposed to fix it, or one
downgrades according to
.

2017-05-11 Thread pmow
I was a bit confused about which bug was there first, but #1689538
reports the same issue (for me it only started on May 9th), also with
Firefox, and #1689342 is about Chrome.

I have the same problem (triggered by Firefox 3x now), and have nouveau
installed as well.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1686568] Re: Firefox Does Not Respond. Process can not be killed. Terminal commands to kill the process freeze. Logout Freeze.

2017-05-11 Thread cliddell
FWIW, I see the same symptoms with both Firefox and (just now)
Thunderbird, and I am using the Nouveau NVidia drivers - I mention that
as I seem to recall a vaguely similar sounding issue a couple of years
ago that could be worked around why switching away from the NVidia
proprietary drivers (which the OP in this seems to be using).
