[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1722118] Re: No feedback on failed OpenVPN connection
Status changed to 'Confirmed' because the bug affects multiple users. ** Changed in: network-manager-openvpn (Ubuntu) Status: New => Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to network-manager-openvpn in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1722118 Title: No feedback on failed OpenVPN connection Status in network-manager-openvpn package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: I imported an OpenVPN configuration file. This worked fine. However, when I tried to connect to my OpenVPN server, the connection didn't work. This wasn't obvious though, since the network manager menu disappears right after clicking "Connect". Indeed, the connection couldn't possibly work, since I didn't copy the CA and the TA files. After copying those files next to the config file, the connection succeeded. However, again, without any feedback, except for the changing icon in the systray. My minimal expectation would be to see an error message when the connection fails for whatever reason. I have further issues with network manager or the openvpn plugin: - I don't like that the menu disappears right away, this does not provide sufficient feedback to the user on the success of his operation. - I don't like that the network manager does not automatically suggest to install the openvpn plugin when trying to import openvpn config files.
