[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1725686] Re: Computer freezes when logging into Ubuntu 17.10 on Wayland
Thank you for reporting this bug to Ubuntu. Ubuntu 17.10 (artful) reached end-of-life on July 19, 2018. See this document for currently supported Ubuntu releases: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Releases We appreciate that this bug may be old and you might not be interested in discussing it any more. But if you are then please upgrade to the latest Ubuntu version and re-test. If you then find the bug is still present in the newer Ubuntu version, please add a comment here telling us which new version it is in and change the bug status to Confirmed. ** Changed in: gnome-shell (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Won't Fix -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-shell in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1725686 Title: Computer freezes when logging into Ubuntu 17.10 on Wayland Status in gnome-shell package in Ubuntu: Won't Fix Bug description: When I first installed Ubuntu 17.10, I logged into Wayland and it worked fine. There were some minor issues, but it was still functional. However, I started screencasting my computer with Ctrl- Alt-Shift-R, but my computer became very slow and I decided to shut it down. I closed all applications before shutting it down, but forgot to stop the screencast. Now, when I try to log into Ubuntu 17.10 using Wayland, the screen goes gray and my cursor is stuck in the middle of the screen. I can't move my cursor at all and the desktop never actually loads. I can still transition to other ttys, though, by using the Ctrl-Alt-(F key) commands. However, logging into Ubuntu on Xorg or Unity still works fine.
