I believe I have the same problem: an Ubuntu upgrade has caused the Ubuntu-installed gdata provider to not be visible in the Thunderbird addons list. This results in all of my google calendars being greyed out in the Thunderbird calendar pane. xul-ext-gdata-provider's description states that it

I am not convinced this is a ducplicate of bug #1797945. If I read that report correctly it is about upgraded Thunderbird with the external add- ons used. I *do* have both lightning and gcal provider from the Ubuntu archive (repeating from the description): xul-ext-lightning:amd64
