[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1801494] Re: dock missing
I had this problem with a fresh install of Ubuntu Mate 18.10 on a 2008 white Macbook, 2.4 GHz. dual-booting with MacOS 10.6.8, using rEFInd. I have never seen the menu bar of Ubuntu Mate on this install, it was absent on the first boot. I've tried many of the solutions suggested here and in other threads, to no avail. I was able to sort of "fix" it by switching from gdm to lightdm, which gives me a minimal but functional window manager, allowing me (among other things) to connect to a WiFi network. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-shell-extension-ubuntu-dock in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1801494 Title: dock missing Status in gnome-shell-extension-ubuntu-dock package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: 1) Description: Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS Release: 18.04 2) $ apt-cache policy gnome-shell-extension-ubuntu-dock gnome-shell-extension-ubuntu-dock: Installed: 0.9.1ubuntu18.04.1 Candidate: 0.9.1ubuntu18.04.1 Version table: *** 0.9.1ubuntu18.04.1 500 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu bionic-updates/main amd64 Packages 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu bionic-updates/main i386 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 0.9.1 500 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu bionic/main amd64 Packages 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu bionic/main i386 Packages 4) dock is there 5) dock is not there To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell-extension-ubuntu-dock/+bug/1801494/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages Post to : desktop-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

I'm now seeing this issue, after messing with my monitor cables. I only have a single monitor. I was trying to get my DVI to work on my AMD RX550 card - which will not display while logged in (but does at bios). Both cables are currently plugged into the same monitor (diff ports of course) in my attempt to switch from HDMI to DVI-D. Hi, I had the issue today and thanks to @v2min I can replicate it. The issue appeared cause I have my screen turned off when I powered on the computer. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1801494] Re: dock missing
I'm seeing this same issue. The dock disappears after the machine turns off the monitor after 5 minutes of inactivity. I don't have hibernate or suspend enabled. Per Daniel's suggestion, I ran gnome-tweaks and enabled the Ubuntu Dock extension... Other symptoms - the dock reappears after logging out and logging back in (without rebooting).
