Title:
Changing Heading 1 to Heading 2 and then updating table of contents
cuts of the whole Heading 2 section

Status in libreoffice package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
I've got a 20,129 word (122.5 kB) ODT with a number of headings and a
table of contents. I've got a heading (the last heading in the
document) which was Heading 1 (style), I think, but is now Heading 2.
The table of contents indicates that it is Heading 1 (hence I think it
was probably originally Heading 1), I make it Heading 2 and update the
table of contents and the content under the heading, as well as the
heading itself, disappears, despite the heading still being on the
  table of contents.

I then tried changing the heading to Heading 1 and updating the index
to see what would happen, and it becomes clear that the text is being
cut off from the document, not that it's actually gone (the word count
only seems to change by 2 each time this happens).

I can't post the file since it's possible it would cause a false
positive, as it were, with plagiarism software, and it has a lot of
copyrighted text, but I've posted screencasts demonstrating the issue.

Workaround: Save the file and re-open, the text that was cut off will
now be visible again (even with the table of contents update)!

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1823322] Re: Changing Heading 1 to Heading 2 and then updating table of contents cuts of the whole Heading 2 section

2019-04-05 Thread Olivier Tilloy
Thank you for the report. This doesn't look like an Ubuntu-specific bug at a
first glance, would you mind filing an upstream bug report at
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/enter_bug.cgi?product=LibreOffice=guided
and sharing the link to it here?
Thanks in advance!

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1823322] Re: Changing Heading 1 to Heading 2 and then updating table of contents cuts of the whole Heading 2 section

2019-04-05 Thread Ads20000
** Summary changed:

- Changing Heading 1 to Heading 2 and then updating table of contents deletes
the whole Heading 2 section
+ Changing Heading 1 to Heading 2 and then updating table of contents cuts of
the whole Heading 2 section

** Description changed:

I've got a 20,129 word (122.5 kB) ODT with a number of headings and a
table of contents. I've got a heading (the last heading in the document)
which was Heading 1 (style), I think, but is now Heading 2. The table of
contents indicates that it is Heading 1 (hence I think it was probably
originally Heading 1), I make it Heading 2 and update the table of
contents and the content under the heading, as well as the heading
itself, disappears, despite the heading still being on the table of
  contents.

I then tried changing the heading to Heading 1 and updating the index to
see what would happen, and it becomes clear that the text is being cut
off from the document, not that it's actually gone (the word count only
seems to change by 2 each time this happens).

I can't post the file since it's possible it would cause a false
positive, as it were, with plagiarism software, and it has a lot of
copyrighted text, but I've posted screencasts demonstrating the issue.

+ Workaround: Save the file and re-open, the text that was cut off will
+ now be visible again (even with the table of contents update)!
