  there is an option
-c, --checkPerform a quick set of self-check tests.

  Running 'nautilus --check' on the 19.10 beta or on 18.04.3 prints:

running nautilus_self_check_file_operations
running nautilus_self_check_directory

  And then it just sits there. This is probably not intended.
