[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1995704] Re: Huge memory leak when tiling LibreOffice windows in Ubuntu 22.04
@ Daniel: In the past hour I wanted to make a screencast for you to see how the RAM consumption increase but I didn't find a suitable app to make screencasting on Wayland! The embedded screencast (and screenshot) tool of Gnome Shell is working but parts of the recording are freezed in the final video so... I can not provide a descriptive video for the moment. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1995704] Re: Huge memory leak when tiling LibreOffice windows in Ubuntu 22.04
This is clearly a leak in the gnome-shell process. Comparing the memory consumption before and after shows a massive increase. Whether this originates in mutter/mesa/wayland will have to be determined. It can be reproduced easily while concurrently resizing any tiled application windows. ** Package changed: ubuntu => gnome-shell (Ubuntu) ** Also affects: gnome-shell (Ubuntu Jammy) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: gnome-shell (Ubuntu Jammy) Status: New => Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-shell in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1995704 Title: Huge memory leak when tiling LibreOffice windows in Ubuntu 22.04 Status in Mutter: Unknown Status in gnome-shell package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Status in gnome-shell source package in Jammy: Confirmed Bug description: Please do the following to reproduce the memory leak I can observe on my laptop (Acer Aspire 5, Ryzen 7 5700U, AMD iGPU, Ubuntu 22.04 with Gnome Shell): Close all programs. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1995704] Re: Huge memory leak when tiling LibreOffice windows in Ubuntu 22.04
Thanks for the bug report. I am not yet able to reproduce the bug in Ubuntu 22.10. Please: 1. Run: apport-collect 1995704 2. While the problem is happening run: ps auxw > psoutput.txt lspci -k > lspci.txt and attach the resulting text files here. 3. Also try logging into 'Ubuntu on Wayland' (or 'Ubuntu on Xorg') and tell us if the problem still happens there. ** Changed in: gnome-shell (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete ** Package changed: gnome-shell (Ubuntu) => ubuntu -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-shell in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1995704 Title: Huge memory leak when tiling LibreOffice windows in Ubuntu 22.04 Status in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: Please do the following to reproduce the memory leak I can observe on my laptop (Acer Aspire 5, Ryzen 7 5700U, AMD iGPU, Ubuntu 22.04 with Gnome Shell): Close all programs. Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Please execute the following command only once, as it will automatically gather debugging information, in a terminal: apport-collect 1995704 When reporting bugs in the future please use apport by using 'ubuntu- bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more about this functionality at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs. ** Package changed: ubuntu => libreoffice (Ubuntu) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to libreoffice in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1995704 Title: Huge memory leak when tiling LibreOffice windows in Ubuntu 22.04 Status in libreoffice package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: Please do the following to reproduce the memory leak I can observe on my laptop (Acer Aspire 5, Ryzen 7 5700U, AMD iGPU, Ubuntu 22.04 with Gnome Shell): Close all programs.
